In U.K you can call yourself by any name you want.I simply changed my sons name when I remarried.I told the school his new name and that was that .His passport is in his new name even though his birth cert is in another .You could get legal advice from free solicitor who may advise you to change his name by Deed Poll,(money making device for solicitor) but mine said this was not necessary. You however, may feel more confident with the proceedure if you have it on an a piece of legal paper ! I changed mine when I divorced and merely wrote to the bank ,utilities ,and inland revenue notifying them of the change.

I wanted to do this with my baby as her dad is the biggest a*sehole on this planet,
He wanted me to terminate her pregnancy, despite being married left me 2 weeks after her birth by C-Section and was knocking me and my daughters around,
He once chased his boss with a machete,
He had to have contact at a center which was supervised,
He only showed up once and that was 2 days before xmas, he got her nothing,
However, At least I can say to her when she's older that I tried,
I'd love to cut all ties, including her surname,
But I don't want her to think that I stopped him from being a father,
I think legally you can have his rights taken away and that includes surname,
But what is going to make him look bad ???

Unless the biological father has given up his parental rights by signing adoption paperwork, giving consent to another man adopting the child, the answer is no.

you do not favor the bi fathers consent because he has been out of the baby's existence for thus long yet you'll nonetheless ought to flow by the courtroom equipment so your new husband can undertake him. they received't provide help to regulate his very last call without place of work paintings from the right courtroom that announces your husband has legally followed him. Its kinda of like what you should flow by to regulate your call once you get married. i might want to search for suggestion from out of your son although and be sure that he's time-honored with what is going on. in case you want to you could clarify to him that he is going to have his call replaced a lifeless ringer for mommy did so everybody understand that you're appropriate. i might want to arise with something he can comprehend and can want to sense smooth with. I desire you the finest of success and desire each and everything is going your way.

Why not just wait and give the child the choice when they are old enough. This always seems like petty spite to me . I could not stand my ex for years but would not have dreamed of chamging the children's surname. After all if it wasn't for him i would not have 2 children i adore.

You can call yourself whatever name you like. However, it won't be legal, and if you're using the name to defraud someone or conduct illegal activities you will be in big trouble. Try asking at the CAB for more details.
