Bob's style is to paint oils wet-on-wet.
Oils take so long to oxidize (they don't "dry") the surface stays open and workable for several hours.

You can add a retardant to the acrylics that prevent them from filming over but it changes the texture and quality of the paint.

Sure, he taught mostly painting technique and didn't spend too much time talking about the medium he uses. So those techniques could be applied to working with acrylics too. The way they mix might differ a little, so you'd just have to familiarize yourself with your paints, how do they mix? How quickly do they dry? Can you paint one color over another? You may not be able to do everything Mr. Ross does with the oils, but you can get good results with experimentation. Enjoy!

you couldddd but acrylics tend to dry out fast- which is probably why many painters prefer to use oil. it would be difficult to paint somethign long term with acrylic wen you don't have many options to manipulate it at a later time and would have to work quickly.

ahh bob ross. classic. he died - r.i.p. man.
