My cat is very sick and needs to take five different kinds of meds daily. His meds are both in tablet and liquid form. His vet suggested that I use a syringe when giving him his liquid meds. As for the tablets, I just pop it in his mouth and hope he swallows it.

Giving him his meds is always a struggle and my cat gets very stressed. I'm afraid that stressing him out will only make his condition worse. How can I make things easier for him?

When I gave my cat his meds I would lean him back and pop the bill to the back of his throat and then squirt half a syringe of water to get him to swallow. You can also rub their throat to get them to swallow. My vet suggested putting pills in cheese whiz. I didn't try that though but that may work for you. Just try to make taking the medicine as quick and painless as possible so it will be easier for the both of you. Try not to be nervous when giving the cat the medicines cause this will stress him out more. Good, luck.

We use a syringe for our cat because we have difficulty giving her medicine too. Squirt the medicine in her mouth then hold her mouth closed and rub under her chin (kind of like tickiling) to make her swallow.

You could always put the tablet in a treat, if he spits it out then break the pill in half and place it in the treat. Also with cats you may could crush the tablet(s) and put it in some canned cat food to entice him. As for the liquid they will usually swallow it if you use the syringe method.

Providing the medicines will still be effective,so check on this first. When our cat was ill,she wouldn't take any medication. We crushed up any tablets that she had to take, very finely.Any liquids, also we mixed it into her favorite treat,in our cats case was tuna. She likes tuna that much, and could only smell the tuna,so she didn't realize she was having her medicines.
