I get sick of people that put people down that have or want to get Tattoo's. I have 13 tattoo's and I got them for my own reasons. If you don't like tattoo's don't answer the questions about them. We don't get tattoo's because we are looking for approval form you, we get them because we want to get them.

What are you thoughts?

I agree 100%! Everyone is so quick to jump to their own conclusions and judge people just for having some beautiful art. Tattoos not only show awesome art on the body they allow us to express ourselves and commemorate our lives and the people in our lives. We don't need anyones "approval" to do what we want with our own bodies.

I think you are very right. People who don't like tattoos have their own reasons and may hope they could talk young into not getting one if it isn't too late; but the world is pretty much divided into people who want/like tattoos for their own reasons and people who think the statement tattoos make is not a very appealing one.

If someone asks a question like, "Should I get a tattoo?" or "Can a tattoo look classy?" I think they would do well to consider the opinions of whoever chooses to answer; but if someone asks a question about tattoos that isn't asking for opinions and is, instead, asking about ink or where to get them; people who don't like tattoos should not answer.

The world will probably always be divided into "tattoo people" and "hate-tattoos people". That has to be fine. A tattoo does make a statement to the world. What that statement says about the person depends on who is interpreting it. A tattoo that shows will always let the world know which group you belong in, just as the person who shows no tattoo is likely to be letting the world know what group he/she belongs in. Its all fine.

I totally agree with you. Some people get tattoos to show their individuality or maybe its a family thing but regardless the reason i dont understand how come people would put somebody else down for that reason. Its ridiculous. However....its just something that will never change...people will always talk poorly of other people. I dont understand why people judge people by the way the look on the outside. People put me down and say bad things about me because i have my labret pierced but im only 15...soo...that may be why. Anyways...you asked for my thoughts and i gave em to ya!

Ok, but perhaps people are concerned about some tattoo shops not using clean needles, and the possility of transmitting diseases or maybe people just find that tattoos put people in a certain category like goth or something. People just don't understand what tattoos represent to the people who have them, i have often thought about getting one but i'm afraid that when i am 80 it won't look nice. Personally i think tattoos are a good form of expressing art in a way that is unique.

I couldn't agree with you more but when you ask a question in an open forum like Answers you're apt to get everyone's opinion on the subject whether you want/like it or not. I didn't get my tattoo's looking for anyone's approval then or now. I take everything with a grain of salt.

I think it's a personal choice. I might sound real old fashioned, but on men a couple don't bother me. On a woman (I'm going to get so many thumbs down) I think it looks terrible when they are huge and show most of the time. I feel like it's not feminine. It wouldn't effect my decision to go out with a man if he had many tattoos though, on some they look sexy-as long as they weren't on his face; my only concern would be as to how long ago he had them made, Hep C has just recently in the past 10 years been an issue, even if the needles were sterilized, it doesn't always kill Hep C, therefore many people contracted it via tattoo parlors back then. SHOULD I ever, which I won't, get a tattoo, it would be my name in Chinese , about an inch tall, at the nape of my neck, the only place I'd get one.

From the comments that I've seen, many people seem very ignorant and uneducated about it and those individuals that are the most vocal about being against tattoos seem to be the ones that know the least about the process and so forth. It's kind of like..if a person wants to get one, good for them....if a person doesn't want to get one...good for them.

Here's the way I see it:

I don't give others a hard time because they don't have tattoos and because their lifestyle isn't' like mine, I expect people to at least TRY and do the same thing.

Sure things never work out that way, but I just ignore the crap people give me and realize that the most judgmental people aren't worth it. If people are going to be mean and cruel it just says a lot about them.

I totally agree with you, if they hate tattoos that bad don't go onto this subject and answer questions. If you hate tattoos good for you we don't care. Its our bodies and we want to get them tattooed. I turned 18 on sunday and got my ribs/stomach/back done and it hurt, but like they say its painful to be beautiful.people are just jealous that we can sit through the pain and they are wimps and can't lol

I don't like people who put down other peoples points of view. I personally have never had a tattoo or actually thought about getting one, I still may though...Anyways as long as you like it then keep doing it as long as it doesn't harm anyone.
