Just tell her the truth, you don't have to say specifically, "I don't want to go out with you." but just say you're not ready to be in a relationship. It'll sting a bit at first I'm sure but I'm sure she'd appreciate the honesty rather than if you just made some excuse up.

You should be honest. Be very polite and nice about it. Think if it was getting done to you how would u want it to be. Tell her the reason you don't want to go out.Here are some ideas to put in your talk * i still want to be friends, Your not my dating type, Don't feel awkward around me, etc* you get the idea make the other person feel not like sh*t. Be open and honest. You can tell her you are not ready for a relationship fight now, or that you would rather have her as a friend. Whatever you do do not say "its not you its me" becasue us ladies always know what you really mean!

just say i'm not really looking for a relationship right now, and i really do like you as a friend(if you do like her as a friend). Let it be between her and you, because if you tel her around all her friends, it's not going to turn out god. Also, don't tell your friends, because then she'll stilll be embarassed.

Be straight forward and say you can not accompany her and reasons which suit yo the best at that time. It should not be sarcastic but politely.
