He is let out often and has a full bowl of food and fresh water. He gets plenty of affection and is totally spoiled. So what's with the pacing all of a sudden? Any suggestions?

Dog's have different needs throughout their lives and your dog is becoming a senior now.
Try taking him for a walk every day.

Also, pacing may be a sign of a health problem you are not aware of. If he is losing his sight or hearing he may be very anxious over it and nervous. Keep giving him support and love and encouragement.
Please take him to your vet for a full checkup and bloodwork and tell your vet about the new behavior. Hopefully your vet will be able to see what is going on and recommend what to do from there.

Good luck!

I agree with "dogs best friend" take em for a walk. Dogs are basically hunters. They need to walk, be on the move like a hunt. Dogs still have these primal needs. Walk your dog and its a good way to show your his pack leader.

Sounds like he may have developed anxiety. You might want to consider taking him to the vet and possibly put him on an anxiety drug.
