If its a rewritable disc (CD-RW) u can erase it using any cd-burner software like Nero for example. but if its a movie dvd/vcd, u cant erase that.

try Nero. its the most popular i can think of . there are many other proprietry ones but i think Nero does a good job of doing many other stuff. like burning DVD movies.
