Read Romans 1.
Paul writes that from the beginning we've known of God's existence and his eternal power, and Paul assumes that we have an instinctive understanding of what God wanted of us, such that upon judgment day we'll have no excuse, whether we've heard the gospel or not.

God did not give use the sense of right and wrong.
God gave us the Holy Spirit that guides us to do the right thing.
Adam and Eve eating the fruit gave us Knowledge of Good and Evil. So we all know what is right and wrong. Just like everyone in this world knows how to Love and Hurt but they dont know what how to be obediant to thier faith.
John 14:25-27 (New International Version)
25"All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the COUNSLER, THE HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in my name, WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
NOTE... Only through the Holy Spirit do we know right. If you look at John 1 and read about the Light in the Darkness you can understand clearly that God will always show the Light... he doesnt show you the light and darkness. The darkness never understands the Light. So darkness is never present inside pure light. (Unconditional Love)
Genesis 3
. 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "
4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "FOR GOD KNOWS THAT WHEN YOU EAT OF IT YOUR EYES WILL BE OPENED, AND YOU WILL BE LIKE GOD, KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL."
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
NOTE verse 5. The serpent is decieving so don't think we are like God knowing Good and Evil. Remember Adam and Eve died just as God said and we know God is living spirit. (died is spiritual meaning)

Read the following verses found in the book of Romans
Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

I've not seen anything indicative of reason and morality as a gift of god and many a man both atheistic and even theistic have
a simplified version of right vs wrong but few seem to put much thought into it .One should assume if the ablitiy of seeing the way were god given all men would have the sense to follow but since they don't it hardly seems like the logical assumption. I submit the job is all ours without divine assistance.
peace out

In John chapter one it tells us the following: 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John.
1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe.
1:8 He was not that Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of that Light.
1:9 [That] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We all have a scence of right and wrong, why is it wrong to kill, or steal because God has given us His Holy Spirit to tell us right from wrong, even those who have never seen a bible have a mind that God reaches with a scence of right and wrong, God judges us upon the light we have not what we do not have that light that God lightens us with The Holy Spirit can be further investagated in free on line bible lessons www.itiswritten.com bible questions www.bibleinfo.com God bless talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

Look under "conscience" various study helps at Studylight.org. for a clear meaning of the word. This one is a partial description from Holman's Bible Dictionary; "CONSCIENCE
refers in general to that human moral awareness that judges an action right or wrong." (heart, reigns, kidneys also used to refer to conscience)(http://www.studylight.org/dic/hbd/view.cgi?number=T1387) The complete definition from King James Dictionary is worthy of study also; "CONSCIENCE, n. L., to know, to be privy to.
1. Internal or self-knowledge, or judgment of right and wrong; or the faculty, power or principle within us, which decides on the lawfulness or unlawfulness of our own actions and affections, and instantly approves or condemns them. Conscience is called by some writers the moral sense, and considered as an original faculty of our nature. .."(http://www.studylight.org/dic/kjd/view.cgi?word=conscience&action=Lookup)
"And The Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil" (Genesis 3:22 KJV)
"I have lived in all good conscience before God" (Acts 23:1 KJV)
"And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God" (Acts 24:16 KJV)

actually, in genesis it very specifically states that god did not.
The tree of knowledge of good and evil (morality) was a tree god commanded adam+eve never eat from...they did when prompted by the serpent.
So in fact, if the serpent was satan, then satan "gave" man morality. God didn't want us to "eat of the fruit".
A side note...my answer is the only one that has specific evidence from the bible that actually states the origin of morality, yet it has been "thumbed down"...If you do not like the answers the bible gives, fine. It does not change the words in the book, just because you don't like what it says.

God gave Adam and Eve a free will to either obey or disobey Him. God gave them an order not to eat of a certain tree, but the serpent tempted Eve and therefore, she gave in to temptation, disobeying God. Eve knew what God had told her, so she knew it was wrong for her to disobey God. Since that day that God gave life to Adam and Eve, they knew right from wrong. God told them the consequences for their disobedience and so, that is the reason why there is sin in the world: because of their disobedience to God. Diseases, sorrows, pains, aches, pestilences, famines, etc, is all the result of sin - God's curse upon the earth because of sin.

It says in the bible that to every man is given a measure of faith.
Romans 12:3
For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you 1 a measure of faith. 2
Maybe they are trying to translate that into a sense of morality or right and wrong, but faith is a totally different thing that morality or a sense of right and wrong. Faith is the ability to believe in something, that you can't prove exists. Every man is given the ability to have faith. The difference between right and wrong has to be taught, just as Jesus was sent to earth to teach the masses. God didn't send Jesus here and then let harrod kill him right after he was born. Jesus walked the nation and taught God's law to those who needed to hear it, mainly the lawless and rebellious. In the bible it literally uses the word "lawless." How can you be lawless if you know the difference between right and wrong? If a child is born innocent and void of the knowledge of good and evil, how does he know the difference between right and wrong from birth, if he has no knowledge of good or evil? He learns of good and evil as he grows up, and his parents teach him right and wrong. Having a conscience will help you DISCERN the difference between right and wrong, but you are not born knowing the difference between right and wrong.
