Depending on the color of the carpet there are several things you can try, however if the carpet is colored such as teal, mauve or other specific color it will be difficult to remove the dye without also removing the color from the carpet. If you have colored carpet the best thing would probably be to spot bleach the dye if it is much darker than the carpet then purchase dye, such as you would use to tie dye t-shirts, as close to the color of your carpet as you can find and dye the spot back the right color. Otherwise you could try tough stain removers such as oxy-clean or orange clean as they remove almost anything from anything in my experience. Just test a non visible spot or a unused piece of carpet of the same color for colorfastness prior to applying it directly to anything you can't fix if it also removes the color because especially oxy-clean can be so powerful in full strength that it will remove color on non colorfast items. Hope this helps. I have also heard that vinegar will remove stains such as this, though I don't know how well it works. And hairspray will remove stains such as ink and blood from clothing, but I don't know about hairdye.

If spots are small then separate the carpet out and neatly trim (with sharp scissors) just the top off each individual tuft that has dye on it. You will notice the cutting much less than the dye. I doubt if there is any cleaning stuff that could get it off.

As a last resort the dye in your carpet might resist peroxide bleach. Hair dye probably won't. Test your carpet in a corner where it can't be seen.

Nail varnish remover might help, but it may also take the colour of the carpet away, so just try Mr Muscle or something and keep scrubbing, leave it on there for a while as well!

hi Jennifer, i think of the terrific element you're able to do is replace this broken area of carpet. that's going to likely be very almost impossible to bathe the carpet, i'm able to propose this. decrease the broken area out of carpet with a pointy trimming knife or protection razor blade , to divulge the backing below. decrease sufficient matching tufts to fill the hollow from a place the place it won't practice. occasion. from under heavy furnishings, or interior a closet. Or in case you have a spare piece of matching carpet. Dab the backside of the hollow and the tufts with a ideal latex adhesive, then insert the tufts into the hollow . leave to dry, then trim if mandatory and brush to combination with pile. wish this facilitates you

Thats the first question I ever asked on Answers.... the answer is you can't if its permanant. I shaved off bits of my carpet from bits not on show with a razor and shaved off the dyed bits then I stuck the new bits on top with superglue. Worked very well.

Go to any major supermarket and look for a group of little yellow bottles(near laundry detergent) and look for the one for dye stains. IT WORKS!! Personal experience!
