The British Army seem to be doing the right thing in Iraq, could the American Army learn a thing from us?
Surely there are more American troops in Iraq than British? Why aren't the Americans being begged to stay?

The British Army have learned to win hearts and minds something that the Vietnam village burning U.S Army never will....When you defeat your enemy you must immediately reestablish civilian normality and prioritise civilian casualties therefore the civilians are happy and you can quench civil up rise and also reduce insurgent threat. But this only works if you have the funds to rebuild a broken city, hence lies the problem face by the British forces in the early days in Basra civil up rest....and why Bagdad is a Warzone....Yes maybe the Yanks should ask for Help but do you think that would ever happen.....

They're not as well-trained and professional.
2 of 3 regions in Iraq, which were controlled by the British, have now been handed over to the Iraqis. The third region should be ready for handover this year.
The Americans could learn a lot from our superb armed forces, provided they accept the fact they aren't as good and are willing to listen.
I'm not trying to insult the US, we are allies and we could really help them out if we teach them a thing or two.

The mindset and skill set of UK forces are quite different from our US cousins. To enter UK forces is a career decision. Wheras US sucks up a significant portion of "unemployed waifes and strays".

Also the deployment of UK forces - Afganistan, Seirra Leone, Northern Ireland, Bosnia and other troublespots/ UN operations has left a footprint around the globe of worthy effort, and even-handedness.

The fact that many of Iraq's citizens have had parents or relations train at Sandhurst, or fight with British units in WW2 would also suggest that they are more predisposed to favour being policed by "known" British forces, than "stranger" US.

Or we could just be better soldiers????

As we are there now and are responsible for our actions, it would be unrealistic to pull out now, yes we are doing a better job of it than the yanks, but taking into account the feeling around the world for Americans, it was always going to be harder for them.
The British have a much better reputation of dealing with people in these situations. Americans are trigger happy and are well know for their lack of approach in these situations.
We took on the job, right or wrong, so now we have to see it through.

Obama has already indicated taht the troops wouldnot come home right away. Iraq much to dismay of democrates is quickly becomming a success. (sorry for that, I know you wanted failure). By the way,ask the 40 million people in Afghan and Iraq if they want to go back to those regimes?, Al Queada is pretty much destroyed, Iran is scared of it's own polulation who wnat change, and we haven't been attacked since 9/11. Sorry to disturb you with the facts.

They don't have to ask American Troops to stay, we aren't pulling out before Iraq is stable so there's no question as to OUR devotion to the cause.

As to the oil claim, one might note that America has yet to import a drop of Iraqi Oil and 100% of the GDP developed by Iraqi Oil exports to France and Germany (the pre-war primary importers) as well as other nations still goes directly to the Iraqi Government. For the life of me, I can't figure out why there is such persistance in that ignorant claim.
