She won't kill it, she is jealous and letting the kitten know that it is in her house. Animals all have personalities like humans but we talk to get to know each other in the animal world they fight and hiss a bit at first but they work things out in time.

You need to introduce the kitten as slowly as possible.
First, lock it in a room and don't let your cat in that room. Then slowly bring out objects that smell of the kitten next to your cat so it can get a bit used to the smell. After a while, put the kitten in a box that your cat can't get into. she will sniff it and recognise that there is another cat in there and probably try to attack it. Then put the kitten back in the room. Do that a few times and then let the kitten out more often for longer periods. Once you feel comfortable that your cat won't rip the kitten to shreds or the kitten is big enough to fend for itself the process is done. When you are introducing the kitten in the box you must make sure that you are standing there just in case your cat does decide to rip it to shreds.
Even after all that you cannot expect them to get along but you would have done the best you can. They probably will fight, but hopefully not seriously.
Hope this helps!

Cats are territorial animals descended from wild felines that live on their own (unlike dogs who are pack animals). So you need to introduce a new cat slowly. Your one year old will defend her territory by growling and spitting at a new kitten, but after a week or two will get used to the newcomer.
Try again and keep an eye on both cats. Feed them separately for a while and give them equal attention. There'll be a bit of scrapping at first, but they'll get used to each other after a while.

Your cat will not kill the kitten. It is use to being the only cat in the house and it feels like it is being replace. Introduce the kitten very slowly to your cat and eventually your cat will warm up to the kitten.

I think it is a jealousy issue. Cats don't like to be bothered. They are loners. And I think they get angry when their owners give attention to other animals. Really so when it is a small animal, like a bird or kitten that might be a mouse in the cat's eyes.

you have to introduce the cats slowly first of all. Not all animals want a companion. And you can't change that they are who they are.

As a rule they don't kill their own kind.
An older cat may be better, they might have a scrap but one will usually come out on top and all will be peace and harmony.
