They only sure fire way of guaranteeing yourself not to be drafted into the Army would be to join another service when the draft starts. You could try the whole medical BS, but who knows how desperate they will become. I was in the Navy with Asthma and a heart murmur. They no longer do the last of kin thing, and haven't for a very long time. Really, signing a military contract is not a death sentence. hundreds of thousands have served in the US military and haven't died. Seriously, grow a pair. It's not the end of the world, it's actually a good experience. Just think, many other countries require men of a certain age to enlist in the military for a certain period of time...

Fleeing to Canada won't work because after 'Nam the US worked out extradition rights for that but another country might. Problem is you would be committing a crime and unless amnesty were declared you could never return to the US.
A sure fire way would be to physically maim yourself in some way that precludes you from service. Stab out your eye or cut off a foot. Something like that.
But you won't need to worry about that because there isn't going to be a draft anytime soon and you'll be old enough to be exempt long before the political climate changes that drastically. There's too many people still alive who remember hating the last draft. Once that segment of the population has died off it may be entertained seriously but until then it ain't gonna happen.

the best possible way to guarantee that you will not be drafted is to shoot yourself in the head...i highly recommend this, but evidentally you do not have the intestinal fortitude of an ant, so your only other option is to come out of the closet and openly admit that you are gay...if neither of these work then you are probably still safe because you wouldn't pass the medical board, since you have no testicals

the military has a system where depending on how many years you enlist for, they can call you back to service for so many years. example you sign on for 4 years they can call you back for 4 years once your time is up..5 years they can call you back for three. i know they do this in the army i'm not sure about other branches. they do this to prevent a draft. i'm not saying it will never happen but it shouldn't anytime soon.

The "go to college, they won't draft you!" bit doesn't apply any more. Now they let you finish the term of college before sending you to boot.
I agree with gradatusf, just sign up before any draft and you'll get the job you want guaranteed!

You could just be a man and serve your country like your past relatives may have done. Here are some things to "get out" or never to get in: Flat feet, obesity, sleep walking, asthma, heart murmurs, definitely alot of medical hardships are a no no. Psychological problems could help out in your case. If you were to get drafted, you could simply go enlist in the branch of service you prefer so you aren't on the frontlines in infantry. Join the Airforce, or Navy and pick a job that you think wouldn't put you close to war........................Good Luck

Don't bathe for a month and live in your own waste for a week or so before reporting for your physical.
Dinosaur rocker Ted Nugent did this to dodge the draft during Vietnam.

I've got a great idea. Have the courage of your convictions and just refuse to go. Sure, you'll spend a couple years in prison, but that's a small price to pay to get your point across.
