Well, if there was ever an era when the people had every reason to think that they were living in the "final days" it must have been during the first outbreak of the Black Plague, in the 1300s
And we're still here.
Other, earlier generations thought they had a plethora of swords hanging over their heads. But generally what they feared were shadows, because neither they nor their "gods" could actually end the WORLD. Death, in the form of war or disease or natural disaster might claim an individual or a family or even a whole nation, but not the entire world. We are the first, perhaps, to look up at a sword that *we ourselves* have forged, and know, with absolute certainty, that it is real.
WE have put our planet in peril.
WE have to save it.
But if you're looking for "signs", you need look no further than our careless disregard for clean water and air and sufficient healthy food, or the desperate greed that drives many to pillage our natural resources in a big hurry, to "get what they can" while they can get it. You need look no further than the willingness of some to risk destruction of our very planet in order to secure for themselves obscene wealth and power.
Life is uncertain, and none of us know that we have a tomorrow. But in order to stay sane, we must behave as though we know there will be one, and work hard to leave this planet in good shape for generations to come.
It is, IMO, utterly irresponsible for anyone to lapse into uncaring passivity because of some old set of predictions.
I have confidence in our collective sanity (with some reservations). I have confidence that we can, and will, preserve our planet well enough so that it will continue to support human and animal life. I suspect that future generations of believers in those old predictions will look back at us and, with the absolute conviction that THEY are living in the "final days', wonder how on earth we could have thought that WE were.

We can't really know we are in the end times until it actually happens. I feel we are closer to it then we were 10 years ago, but I'm also closer to 50 than I was 10 years ago. Am I there yet, not by a long shot. What signs you should watch for.... well there are many of them. The one major one that can't be mistaken for anything else is Solomon's temple to be rebuilt. I honestly don't see that happening any time soon, especially without a major miracle. The islamic temple (the dome of the rock) is sitting on the old sight of Solomon's Temple.
Honestly despite my cynicism we should always live as though the world were ending tomorrow, because the bride-groom cometh and we know not the hour. I would hate to think that today was my last chance to lead someone to Christ and I didn't do it because I thought I could do it the next day.

We are in the last days. Matthew chapter 24 talks of the end time signs and that as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the last days. What was it in the days of Noah that is in these last days? Man was continually evil, man had mulitplied and filled the earth and there was so much scientific advancement. There were born beautiful daughters of man and the sons of God backslid and married them and there were giants on the earth. The people were so advanced that they could do some atmospheric tests and prove there was no water up there and that is why the message of Noah was rejected and he was labelled an old crank. Trumpets and seals have been broken in the natural and the spiritual real. Trumpets denote war and there have been significant / prophetic wars that have happened and we have had WWI & WWII. There remains yet one more WW and what is the talk around the world today? WWIII.

I would not leave any of that prophesy for the future, in the hands and mouths of unqualified human beings to say that the end times are near. Instead, I would closely follow the steps in the Book of Revelations in the Bible, which will and have foretold many truths to it.

Just look at the present conditions;
(2 Timothy 3:1-7) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. 6 For from these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, 7 always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
(Acts 17:31) Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and he has furnished a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead.”
Note that ' resurrection' means ' s standing up'. Jesus was resurrected back to another forty days on the earth in the flesh. Being taken back to heaven by his Father was not his resurrection. Jesus was returned the theposition he held ALONGSIDE his Father [ Jehovah God / Exodus 6;3] when he was first CREATED. [ PROVERBS 8; 22-31]

Matthew13: 37-43 - He answered an dsaid unto them, He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man 38 - The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 - The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 - As therefore the tgares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 - The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42 - And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 - Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father, Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 24:5-8 - For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 - And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 - For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places. 8 - All these are the beginning of sorrows.

We have always lived in the final days.........
Each person's days are limited. Teach me O Lord the shortness of life that we may gain wisdom of heart.
Paranoid? There is a little schizophrenia in each of us!
Beware when you don't live in the truth, the goodness, the beauty, & the love of God and others.
Blessings.............
