Red Light Camera Ticket? A few weeks ago I travelled to Hamilton,Ontario to visit a GF.I've never ever,I mean never have went through a red light wllingly unless I am skidding across in the snow.Anywho,it happened to be raining pretty heavy in Hamilton, cars were fishtailing, and my SUV was spinning when getting off at an intersection once the light hits green.I was driving down East Main Street and Sanford Avenue South intersection. As I was approaching the Greenlight I entered the intersection,it quickly turned Amber,I tried to break, but semi skidded,so I figuared from my past experiances,if its yelow, and I am skididng,I will skid through no matter what,so I proceeded with caution since that is what amber technically means unless ur able to stop, and I swear not even a blink of an eye it turned RED!I saw flashes beyond flashes.I was the 4th lane to the left, and couldnt see a camera warning sign at all.fine says red was on 0.6 seconds before i crossed over!Took 1.3 seconds to drivethrough

Generally the photo stop tickets are non disputable. The police will most likely retort with you were not traveling at a safe speed. Almost all traffic lights in Canada have amber or yellow lights as well which serves as a warning for the upcoming RED light.

You can appeal there is a guilty with explanation plea in some municipalities, I am not to sure about Hamilton though. You can try fighting it although it probably won't turn out the way you would like.

Consult Points, they are ex-sop turn guys who help you fights traffic tickets. They are everywhere in Southern Ontario.

Why do people think Canada is one place? Nobody says "in the US", they say "in New York", or "in Indianna", or "in Seattle". I will tell you about red light tickets in Winnipeg. The camera takes 2 pictures. One is triggered when you enter the intersection ON THE RED LIGHT. The second is triggered showing you actually going through the intersection WHILE THE LIGHT IS STILL RED. If you were in Winnipeg, there is no ticket, as an officer reviews all pictures, and if the second picture isn't there, there is no ticket. Just a suggestion, but if you can't stop at or before the stop line, whether there is a camera or not, you aren't paying attention properly. If you say you "managed" to stop the car, either you failed to react properly based on your distance from the intersection when the light turned yellow, or you were speeding. I speak from 44 years of driving experience (as of this coming September) and over 1-1/2 million miles (about 2.4 million kilometres) behind the wheel, part of the time teaching people not just how to drive, but how to drive to stay alive.

I know how much it stinks to get a traffic light ticket, when you didn't even see it happen or get pulled over! I live in Philadelphia and we have them all up and down Roosevelt Blvd. What you do is go to traffic court for the ticket. Talk to the Judge and explain everything very politely. As long as it is your first offense, they will most likely let you go.

Just admit to yourself that you should take more care in driving in icy or rainy conditions, pay the $CDN500(?) fine to the Judicial Office in Hamilton...and watch your insurance rates go through the sky!!!...ask any OPP constable...

Good luck...
