"Necessary" or "just" are relative words. It depends on from whose point of view - or interest - you look at the situation. For the US government and for international oil companies the war in Iraq is necessary and just. They need to control one of the largest oil reserves in the world. They need comparatively cheap oil. People living in the Middle East may not agree with this. There is chaos in Iraq and and in the region after the US invasion. Iraq is divided into so many fractions. Iraqi Kurds are in the process of establishing a state (that would be their first in history) in the north of the country; and Turkey is deeply concerned with that. Moreover, the oil rich Musul/Kirkuk region is also under great tension with fourhundred thousand Kurds moving in to exterminate local Turkmens and hand over the oil reserves to international (western) companies. Do you still think the war in Iraq was necessary?

Some part of me thinks it is important to control the oil,but another doesn't think it is right to control the oil at such a cost.A positive effect of the war is that if "terrorists" want to kill a bunch of Americans all they have to do is go to Iraq. I support our troops but not our govt or the war.

I don't think it was necessary to begin with, but that being said one must understand that peace was not an option, either. And now that we're there, we have a tiger by the tail and dare not let go. The strategic goal of isolating terrorists and those states that support terrorism isn't a terrible idea, either.

We've developed lightweight body armor. We now contract out many vital military tasks to private contractors (who are somehow different from mercenaries), thereby reaping the benefits. Our ability to keep irreversibly brain damaged soldiers alive is much improved.

(PSSST!!! This is Top Secret, so don't tell anybody! The war is really with Red China and other Commie Nations we don't even want to mention! So we pretend they don't exist, and don't even call their names! Watch "Beetlejuice," the movie, to get the 'Hidden in plain sight' super-secret CIA plan to get rid of Beetleguise, 'A massive red star," and 'Get back the House (Of Representatives)!'
"Juneau, your case worker..." Is really Dir. GHW Bush, and I AM BEETLEJUICE! So DON'T CALL MY NAME THREE TIMES!
I'm not joking, and if you tell anyone this, I'll have to send you to the archives!)

The Middle East will never be peaceful without ending the Israeli occupation. This is the conclusion of the UN, EU, Backer-Hamilton report, and President Carter new book.
