If a person is just handed their religion at birth, that in no way means it would mean anything to them. I was born into a Christian family, but I didn't understand what it really meant to follow Christ until I was 15. It's sort of like going to a family reunion and seeing people who have the same last name but who don't have a clue who anyone there is. Just because someone calls themselves a member of a family doesn't mean they actually know anyone else in that family. Likewise, anyone can call themselves a Christian or whatever if that's what they were born into, but it doesn't mean it will mean anything to them. And if it doesn't mean anything to them, what good is it? If they don't figure out not only what they believe but why, any religion they are born into will be useless until they do something with it. Check out a little bit about my own life at the first link below.

People should decide. A
decision made from a mature outlook. Baptism is a decision to follow Jesus' teachings.
Infants are incapable of this, being immature.
the early Jews did NOT practice infant baptism.
The practice helps maintain the number in a religion without having to put in the effort required to fulfil Matthew 28; 19,20.z

It's gonna be pitiful if their religion is decided by birth... I think people have a right to choose what they want to follow, and to me, a person has to be personally convicted of the truth of whatever religion he/she believes in. If not, it's just another useless set of rules.

IMHO religion is a personal choice. it is not something decided by birth or by your parents, but after careful soul searching. If one questions and educates oneself about religion and feels a personal connection to one religion over another as a means to be spiritual then they should choose to follow that religion. some individuals may choose another means to be spiritual that does not involve religion. the bottom line is that it is a choice, not some predetermined.

Religion is just a name for a man's belief given by the society.
But there is a God who made everyone and the world around him.
How can one find out who the real God is?
The real God can answer you when you are in real trouble. No one else will bother.

Freedom of religion should be a human right.
Nobody should be told or manipulated into believing in a specific religion.

Most definitely not, it is a freedom given to everyone in our Country(USA), to choose their own beliefs, or to choose not ot believe.
I wouldn't be involved in religion, if it was forced upon me, it would have no meaning at all, and undermine its purpose of the Word, in coming to Him freely(by your own choice).

If it was decided at birth and your parents were Satanists would you still be a Satanist because of your parents beliefs?
