Example: I want to get healthy, I want to exercise, I want to be the way i used to be. I want to be happy again.

Negativity Enters: Oh you don't want to do that now do you? Be a health Junkie? Why? They suck! No, just sit there and smoke another cigarette instead of jogging around the block. Just keep sitting there. Don't do anything. We're all going to die anyways, why bother being healthy, just sit back and relax and be lazy. Who cares right? Why bother. You don't deserve to be healthy or happy. Sure, smoke another cigarette instead of getting up moving around. I don't like you anyways. No, you cannot go outside and do anything, it's too late. Try again tomorrow, that is if there is a tomorrow for you. Try again to be healthy and i will grip you by the neck with more negativity than you can handle.
The negativity is paralyzing. It hurts.
Quit Smoking! And if you don't smoke, never pick one up to try it.
I hope that this helps anyone who reads it. Hope this helps

You dont say if you are acute schizophrenic . I am taking amusilpride 200mg tablets one a day my psychatrist has never said that I am schizophrenic but prescribed these tablets and on reading the enclosed leaflet I discovered what they where for so are you really schizophrenic have you be diagnosed or like me never been told what your condition is.. All is not lost mind over matter and sheer determination are the key here if you wake up and feel oh no another day then you will have negative thoughts when you do wake in the morning firstly take a deep breath and exhale slowly do this a couple of times also stretch your whole body fingers, legs, arms , toes. then get up eat brain stimulating food fruit drink herbal tea haqve a ciggarette if you want dont feel bad about it its no big deal decide what you want to do that day focus mainly on one thing that you want to do once decided get yourself ready shower dress in what you feel comfortable while thinking about what your going to do how it will make you feel good how you will enjoy doing it dopnt let the weather or other worldly aspects affect your thinking and remember one step at a time go for a good long walk at your own pace to clear your head its a way of staying healthy and look at whats around you as you walk go to the park its peaceful enjoy the nature there and as you walk decide what you want to do first lose weight ,stop smoking , go to the gym, then focus on one of these tell yourself how positive it is and how much you want to make the change swimming is great too you can start on a couple of lenghts then build it up you will also meet people talk with them you dont have to tell them your schizophrenic .. If you are hearing voices dont panic focus on something read a book learn something you always wanted to keep yourself occupied .. The main thing is to say to yourself this will not hold me back.. I myself have 2 jobs , 2 children Ive passed my driving test Im going to college I run a house manage my finances socialise .. Its my life and Im enjoying it I had my dark days of negativity I just said in my mind no more this will not rule me be determined stay focused you can do it if you need help ask for it its there for you read up on your condition then you will understand it and you will realise how to cope with it.. goood luck remember you are special be all you can be love yourself know yourself accept what you have to be assertive the world is yours make your life what you want it to be have faith in yourself...

The hardest thing to do is get away from the negativity no matter what is said to you ignore it you need to force you way through it and see a doctor they can help with medication and take it no matter what get up and jog instead of smoking more.
The exercise will help you feel better but theres those negative voices or what ever they are in your case telling you not to and it's more than hard to go against their wishes but you have to or you will get no where, if you go against them your taking steps to get rid of them by seeing a doctor getting on medication (and don't go off it once you feel ok like I did) it honestly is hard to take those first steps but once you do everything begins to look up
Goodluck with it all you can do it no matter what negative things are said theres no reason you should listen nothing can harm you theyre just words nothing more please seek help get a friend to help you go to a doctor if its hard to do it alone tell them about whats going on maybe have them go jogging with you. It'll get better once you begin doing what you want not what these negative thoughts want

If you are thinking negatively will yourself to thin positively. I have been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia for over 40 years and I have found that although meds help you have to have the goal and determination to get well or it won't happen. Your will to be well is bigger than the voices!

Negative thinking is self reinforcing. A negative thought or voice causes a down feeling and that causes more negative thinking which causes.... and so on. You have to will positive thoughts in order to break the cycle. It's hard but the feeling of joy you get after positive thoughts take over is worth it. I have had choruses of voices in my mind telling me to "kill yourself" so loud they forced me to my knees. I was scared but I just yelled (mentally) back at them, NO!!!, as loud as I could. They quit. Try it. Good luck and God Bless.

my husband is schizo-affective. He and I quit smoking together about two years ago. he had a much harder time with it then I did even though I was a much heavier smoker. His therapist told him sometimes people with certian mental illnesses seem to have and especially hard time kicking the habit. don't beat yourself up too much, just try try again. He snuck lots of cigs behind my back before he finally quit for good. Its hard for everyone, not just those with mental illnesses. the good news is there are things out there to help. I found quiting with someone helped me, so if you have someone to lean on or get them to quit with youit may help. Also, talk to your doctor. One drug they use to treat depression is also a drug they use to help people quit smoking. Wellbutrin (for depression) is also marketed as Zyban (for smoking) its the same stuff! my advice...lolly pops. sounds dumb I know, but...I used to smoke 2 packs a day and I quit cold turkey...while I was working in a tobbacco shop with everyone smoking around me and living in a smoking household. i just bought a big bag of dum dums lolly pops and kept them with me all the time. I hope this helps, and good luck!

Get the nicotine patch and quit. You just sound like every smoker out there to me or a matter of fact, like alot of people I know. I think we all think negative things at one time or another, with or without being schizophrenic. Stop using that as your crutch.

Don't pay attention to those negative voices try your best to ignore them. Start doing things that will boost your self esteem in spite of the voices as you start to feel better about your self the voices will get more positive. fight them.Don't give in go ahead and do whats good and best for your health.I believe you will feel better both physically and mentally.
