When it comes to sending our sons and daughters into combat for a mistake that he made. I fought in Vietnam and I have a nephew who died in Iraq. He never set foot on foreign soil in combat. It would have put a crimp in his happy hour.

No, Bush is pretty much the definition of a coward.

What follows is simply my opinion.

Bush just doesn't care at this point. He already has his second term, and the republicans already lost their majority; so now he is trying to save his name in the history books. Pulling out might be what is right and what the people want, but he goes down as making a mistake from which no good has come. As it stands now he is the man who started our second Vietnam, but if he somehow instills a Shite run government that is in our favor and somehow stabilizes the region he'll still come out smelling of roses. Of course that is all a pipe dream.

I fought in the war and for a time I thought it was the right thing, but the fact of the matter is that we have overstayed our place there. We gutted the government out of their country so we needed to stay until another suitable one was in place. However if the Sunnis don't want to participate in the new government, that will never happen. They want a civil war and that is their country's ordeal, not ours. Bush's upping our troops over there is a desperate attempt to save his name and that is it.

Sending others to pay for your mistakes makes you a bigger coward than I have anything to compare to.

Not incredibly but un-necessarily brave.
He is unable to digest the progress made by his nation and wants to show to the world how much wrong he can do to undo the progress so far made.
It is his belief that down-hill journey has to be faster than the uphill, that has been done by his predecessors.
