The Church should allow no "strikes," but if a violation of the law should occur, the priest...or nun...should be turned over to civil authority... No matter what some psychiatrist's say, a peodophile cannot be cured. They have a gene in their makeup that makes them desire children and no amount of consuling will cure them.

Actually, it's not three strikes, it's two. Actually, it's not strikes, it's tykes.
"Two tykes and you're out," as one editorial cartoonist said. That rule may have been enacted during pope John PedoPaul's rule, but it was written by the current pope, Nazinger.
Why did they do it? Because they're desperately short of priests. They have to hang on to them no matter how repugnant their actions; otherwise, half the cultholic churches in the world would have to close.
Of course, if they allowed women to be priests, or just allowed men to be married priests, it would solve the problem. But this is religion we're dealing with here: rational solutions are anathema to any industry built on fairy tales.

Is it just the Catholic Priest's that commit pedophilia that should go to prison???
There are too many pedophiles walking around freely in our society.....they should ALL be locked up!!
However, any person who belongs to a religion that knowingly allows pedophiles to get away with their crime....should seriously give their concept of religion and/or morality a good solid re-think.

Where did you come up with a 3 strikes rule?
There is no such thing.
Anyone who is accused of abusing a child is immediately investigated, and anyone with a substantiated allegation of abuse is immediately removed.
Police are notified, and all the usual authorities become involved.
What planet have you been living on for the past four years?

No, I think one strike is reason for dismissal from positions of responsibility. I do think for centuries Roman clergy used pedophilia for one release of sexual tention. I think probably many priests had secret affairs with their parishioners and other priests.
The Catholic Church used to make a big deal about divorce but now it seems a nonissue. I think it is not the sin but who commits it.

If you're calling yourself a Catholic maybe you should just say no. Just a thought. I quit that phony baloney church long ago and don't regret it a bit.

I think when pedophilia is concerned in the church, one strike should land you in jail like anyone else.

They should be vastly more pro-active than that...
They need to try and profile these types and weed them out before they become priests...
