I boil bell peppers first when I cook them in the oven. If you don't boil them before cooking them in the oven, the peppers are hard...not to my liking at all. I see that most crockpot recipes don't say to boil them.

I'm thinking you don't need to and just want to check, because alot of the oven methods for cooking stuffed peppers don't mention iboiling them either. Yet they come out hard if you don't.. Can anyone help me on this?

I'd really like to try cooking them in a crockpot....

Thanks in advance!

normally when you cook them in the slow cooker you use water which is going to end up boiling them (I assume that you don't use water in the oven)
so I don't think that you need to boil them (I don't but this could be a matter of taste)

To avoid hard bell peppers from the oven, try covering it/them with foil. stuffed peppers can dry out. As to cooking bell peppers in a crock pot, boiling them before would make them mushy, and
would leave very vitamins/food value.
I assume you are referring to slow cooking something like a stew
in the crockpot?

I love stuffed green peppers and I make them all the time.I cook the meat first and then bake it at 350 for about 30 minutes. First, I boil the peppers for about 5 minutes ( before they get soft), turn them upside down for a minute and then salt the inside. They come out very juicy and flavorful.

When making stuffed peppers, after I stuff them (raw) i place them in a baking dish, and pour tomato juice outside of them and bake. The tomato juice keeps the peppers from drying out, and they are cooked by the time the stuffing in the peppers is done, plus the juice gives them a good flavor!

when i do stuffed peppers, i put water in my dish so they still get boiled. probably you are not using water. if i were to boil them before hand they will look totally horrible when serving them. It is a matter of taste i belive.

You should roast peppers before you use them for stuffed peppers or even in the crock pot. It brings out more flavor an it keeps the texture convenient. You can do that over the open range if you have a gas stove.
