The beginning of my journey was out of pure fear of going to hell... but as I began to study and gain more knowledge, a love and personal relationship with God developed... and there is unexplainable peace, that no worldly possession could give me - I know where I am going when I die, and the love I have for God is what gives me peace, happiness, and satisfaction out of the life he gave me!

Ha ha, how can you be phony with God? He sees right thru it, you can only play yoself on that one. Its like a man who gives away all his belongings just to gain popularity- it is a vain act. When we do good deeds, its for ourselves- our own benefit- God does not need it- the world continues with or without anyone. We come and we go- but He Has Promised to Reward us for our good- I think that is motivation enough- if God promised hell eitherway, would you still do any good even tho u love him? Would you have any motivation to go hungry so that someone else could eat? Ha ha, think about it. The Reward is more persuasive.

This is the biggest reason why Pascal's Wager fails. But why was Hell created if not for "motivation"? Besides, the idea that God has some interest in all of this reduces God, does it not? It means he/she/it has something lacking and wants it. So, unless this reduced version is your God, one could not serve God's interests, he/she/it having none. I guess I don't follow your reasoning.

You are right, for some they may answer that they are serving God because they want to go to heaven, for some selfish reason----to claim the promises of God or to live in comfort forever and escape the fire of hell.
But HONESTLY speaking from my heart, i am serving God because i believe He owns us and we have purpose to live for Him. i am now experiencing pure love for the Lord, and it is really good a feeling, giving glory only to Him, without any interuption. God's love is so blessed that you will thirst loving Him more and more.

I'll be honest and tell why I am serving God. Its because I do not want to see others(my loved ones, my friends, etc) in Hell SUFFERING, but I want to see them in heaven HAPPY. Since I know that God exists and found him to be true very personally, I can tell it without any doubt.

Well, anybody who makes it to heaven will make it because they love the Lord. So, if I say heaven, then my motive is pure. All those who have impure motives and hate God will end up in hell anyway.

Love is all there is. We love Him because He first loved us. I serve Him because I love Him. I serve my brothers and sisters, because He loves them. I am not afraid of hell and not looking for heaven. When you know God the only response is Love in return.

Heaven is where God is and hell is where he is not. Earth is where we can.
Given that, what is your goal? Mine is to be with God.
Answer: Both. To be with God and not in hell (without God). Your question is not an either or question. It is not a choice between two mutually exclusive states. It is not a choice at all. It is both.

I serve God because he's the most awesome thing there is. If I were to end up in hell then he would be justified because his will is perfect.
I wrote what is written above before I read your explanation.

I see your point! Serving God doesn't get us into heaven or out of hell. It is only by Jesus we can go to heaven. Heaven is not earned, it is given to us through Jesus Christ when he died on the cross and rose to life on the third day.
