You even know what P2P stands for? Peer to Peer or person to person! What makes you think that ANY file sharing program is safe? Anyone who wants to join ANY of them can easily join including people who like to spread malware! You download from a stranger! What do you think you will get?

You could go with the new age and use torrents. You're gonna need the BitTorrent protocol and if you want, any of the numerous BitTorrent downloaders (Azereus, BitComet, BitLord, etc).
