You have a child, your child grows up a very polite, well educated person. They get a full scholarship, and go off to college. One day, you see on t.v. that a student has climbed on top of a building and opened fire on fellow students, killing several.
To make a long story short, you soon find out that the killer is your child. He/she shows no remorse and refuses your visits and mail and even says "Having you for a parent is the biggest disgrace of my life." Years later the death penalty is awarded to your child. One year later at 3 am in the morning you get a phone call---"Dad/Mom, they are going to execute me tomorrow after midnight, and they say I can have one person there"----will you go? Why will you go? He/she did not say they were sorry.

my point is---if you are able to love your child that much
would God love you any less? Can we love more than and be more forgiving than God? no, God will never forsake you either

Not Catholic, But if i gave birth to that child.
And that child went on its own path.. did its own things made its own mistakes..

I would still be standing there. Its what a Parent would do.
God or no God.. It would still be the right thing to do.

The problem is if we are to trade the parents to God, will he show up on the child execution? It is not easy to show love when you are not accustomed there's a being, not physical, who can shower you the love more than you have ever experienced in your life. This requires faith and belief. If you don't have it you can't compare the love from an invisible being to the love of your parents. So it's pointless to compare the love of the parents with God where only people the same to your faith would appreciate your story. You need to do more to convince non believer.

First off I would go, I would hope for at least some communication before the event happened. There is not a whole lot you can do for a person in that situation but you can at least try to teach them something and help them prepare. I think we all should learn and prepare for such things early as possible. Some people are hard to have your understanding but must seek it out for themselves. Such a hard situation though, much to think about.

Yes, I would go because no matter what, that child is still my flesh and blood. I would go and try to convince him/her to repent and ask GOD for forgiveness. How would it look on my strong christian beliefs if I turned away from them. Knowing that my LORD did not turn away from me,when I didn't deserve to be saved. That would be the answer even if it was not my child.

I really wouldn't matter to the child if you go or not. If it was my child I would go. God has nothing to do with it. If you have to decide based on what God would want forget it. Some stupid God hang up is probably why he killed all those people anyway. OO

You had me right up till the point where you started with the god stuff. But your only intention is apparently to comfort, so I can't really slight you for it.

as a matter of fact, No.
I do not want forgiveness, I want to be judged on the sum of my actions. If I do more evil than good, then I accept hell as my destiny.

Yes I would go.

If god were real he she or it is a sick bastard because he she or it has turned its back on the innocent who suffer every minute.

You presuppose the existence of a god, and one which created mankind (individually, even).

You haven't established it, though.
