i believe that if ecery country separated church from state there would be world peace. God is the #1 reason wars are fought. If god wasn't even a subject when it comes to politics, everything would be fine. God shoulkd be as far away from politics as the pope is from athieism

God the #1 reason for war? Come on how about power and money. Greed is by far what drives man to war. #2 would be a longing to be free from the power mad.

The wise men that put our freedom in our hands did not want the church to stay out of the state but the state to stay out of the church. This is a very impotent gift. Why? We are free to bring our beliefs in to office with us, but we can not use the power of the government to force a belief on any one. May be you should think on this.

Wars are fought more about religion than any other reason. Proof positive (something religious people can never produce) that the zealous religious people and leaders continually murder others for their beliefs when they differ from their own... Cool thing, huh? Believe in my god, or I will kill you... Seem logical? Nope, but neither does an invisible man in the sky, either. They really don't care what is logical. They only care about their radical views and spreading their "word" to the masses, or else.

You still have to account how officially atheistic countries like China and the former Soviet Union found it in their hearts to slay 43 million. It is wishful thinking that doing away with religion is a cure all. Please note I am in no way suggesting that atheists are all communists, only that there is a danger in many extreme ideologies. And to add on many wars are not about God at all. take worldwar 1 and 2. This was about taking someones land, which is really what alot of wars are about, the whole God rhetoric is used to try and justify it and motivate someone to fight for you. Only someone with an overly simplistic world view would arrive at such a conclusion.

To say God is the #1 reason wars are fought is a generalization and simplification. Religion alone is not the culprit. Politics, fighting over land, power, resources, racial and ethnic reasons all play a part in wars.

I'm not sure the Pope isn't a closet atheist. Certainly he noticed that after becoming Pope, he didn't start receiving spontaneous revelations from God!

But yes, I agree. Church and state is a lousy combination.

I agree. Religon and Politcs are volatile enough. When mixed together it's to dangerous to handle. Legislation should be done solely based on rationale arguments.

There never was a unification of the church and state, so that makes them incompatible.

Only problem with that is man would find something else to fight about.
