I doubt the British soilders families who've lost a child to American who thinks he's playing an XBOX would call it "Friendly"!
Some 300ILB tub of TRANS FAT shooting everything he sees that moves....'Oh gee sorry buddy...you're just gettin' outta the shower huh?' 'You had a towel on your head you looked "EYE RACK E".'

It must be very late in the US by the looks of it...only the crazies are out...and some British ex-pat guy who's let the false adoration of sheltered Americans go to his head! I'l try again later.....

KALIROAD.....
You need to calm down love. Really. Why don't you tell AMERICANS to protest the dictatorship you now live under in the states!!! Where are they? Why aren't they standing up to the Police State the US is turning into? where are the Protestors in the US? Last time I saw an american protest it was about 900 pairs of shoes outside a national monument in a major city. Too scared to stand up for freedom of speech? Too lazy? Too embarrassed?
THAT sickens me...land of the free my @RSE!!!
Great Britain had the most protestors anywhere in the world in 2002 when it all kicked off INCLUDING the USA. We had 50,000.
You seem the type to get upset at someone burning your national flag...guess what...let 'em burn it and go buy another one from walmart...I here they do them for $3.99.
Preaching Christian fundamentalists please avoid me. I'l declare StevieGhad on you!

I'm sure playing a video game in your living room is much different from the hell my husband faced walking down "unsecured streets" in Iraq. And no, he is not a 300 lb of TRANS FAT. He is a husband, and father to my children and I am glad to have him home right now.
Friendly fire is when our guns kill our own people. It happens. My husband has told me all sorts of stories about the people he worked/works with and they are not the sort to say "oh, gee, sorry buddy...you're jest gettin' outta the shower huh?".
Your question sickens me because you are putting the blame on people who don't even want to be over their risking their lives for another countries' freedom. You should be rioting your government or protesting or something. People did that in the sixties/seventies from their desk jobs.

Not really a joke or riddle, and not even especially good political satire; rather rum actually - more of a vacant display of anonymous ignorance from an armchair viewer.
To answer your question, it is "friendly" fire as opposed to originating from the enemy. It is tragic, and yet inevitable, and you do a disservice to serving members by playing a game of semantics and supposed wit.
EDIT: Don't bother checking back later - I doubt your rapier-like wit or sense to assess will be any less dull. Ta!

This is your attempt to protest the war? Word games? People must be in awe of you!
Dead is dead, and obviously there is nothing "friendly" about it, nor does the phrase intend that connotation. You've pretty much fizzled here; better luck with your next scintillating, thought provoking question.

The time period is an oxymoron and it is going to probable get replaced with information from something like "non-enemy unintended hearth" or perhaps use the British time period "blue on blue". that's a equipment blunders and in case you propose using the time period manslaughter, i might want to like it to be called "company manslaughter" because it is not a one guy's fault.

There is nothing friendly about friendly fire, it is only a stupid way to make a distinction between the two sides fighting. I really don't think that there is an expression that could be in any way "nice & easy" for people that have lost their loved ones.

Sounds like you're pissed off at US soldiers more than wanting an answer but.... it means 'you were shot by friends, not the enemy'. Stupid friends? Yea... Most likely.
