What is going to happen is that the bank will charge you the interest as stated on the loan documents. And you will incur debt and after a long time of not meeting the payment demands for minimum monthly payment, you will be put through to a collector agency, who will probably hire a private detective and track you down and sue you in court. Indian courts will probably send you to jail because the lesser degree of human rights and legal due process in India.

It is not right to leave a debt unpaid. I am an Indian too and I condemn this behavior. However, if you have no options left. It depends whether you will go back to Ireland, if not nothing will happen.
These days Indian banks is quite active and liberal in giving loans - I would suggest .... you not take one! Until you are commited enough to pay it back or someday you can land up in a lot of trouble.
At a later date when it is possible, try and pay back the Irish bank atleast this way, other Indians will not have a hard time with the example you have set.

Law will always catch up with you because if you do that you will be a criminal and they will hunt you like dog and they will get you because you have what belong to them. Didnt you have any security, guarantee or may be someone signed for you. If there is that person will pay your debt and if that person trusted you enough to sign for you dont disappoint him/her that would be wrong and unforgivable.
