It depends if you use a truck/van or if you use a trailer.

If you use a trailer, then you just pay the flat rate, and just drop the trailer at a depot in the destination city.

If you use the truck/van, then you pay the rental rate and the mileage, plus you still need to decide which depot you are going to return the truck to, with apropriate fees for each.

For such a long move with a small (1-bedroom) load, I would suggest the trailer option if you can do it. Perhaps load what you can in the car and trailer, ship some if you can, or make two trips.
