Some christians think that he had blond hair and blue eyes, others believe he was a jew.
I think it's because of the pictures that we see everywhere of Jesus. He is often portrayed as having blond hair and blue eyes, so people just unconsciously think that it must be so. It must be noted then that they have not read much of the historical documents about jesus, and his death and ressurection, or if they have read them, then they musn't be using their brain.
I think it is more important though to think about what he is like, and what he claimed, and what he did in dying on our behalf, then what he looks like. Make him look however you want, so long as it doesn't go against the facts.

Okay, i'm Christian. My Friends are Christian. My friends parents are Christian. we Are all church goers, fellowship lovers, bible reading, praying daily, Christians. We have never assumed that Jesus was blonde, or did he have blue eyes. I imagine long brown hair, long facial hair and brown eyes. And btw, to answer your question, during the 1600's to the 1700's art in Europe, was very idealistic. And very religious. Most paintings portrayed the Lord Jesus and the Virgin Mary as blonde, and beautiful, and looking as the ideal style for higher class of this time. Even the clothing. So that may answer ur supposed question.

I have seen alot of Jewish people with blond hair and blue eyes and light brown with blue eyes omg jewish is a RELIGION and not a race of people, why does everyone mistake that, there are jewish people in every race. It is like saying every christian is a caucasian. Regardless, most people only have a vision of Jesus based on the paintings of DaVinci and other such artists and these were based on artists before them and so on and so on. Clearly they are all similar in thier applications therefore we can assume somewhat what he looked like. None of those paintings to my knowledge show him as having blond hair but rather light brownish to reddish hair but not dark and his eyes mostly have been depicted as blue, I would assume the color of the sky would be appropriate to depict him, remember these are artists depictions and not factual. Who said christians said he had blond hair anyway, blue eyes maybe but never blond as far as I have ever known.

I have never thought that. I have, since I was old enough to know, realized that Jesus was from the mid-east. He looked more like Osama than my son (who has blond hair and blue eyes). I think it is funny when I see pictures of a blond haired Jesus, or a black Jesus for that matter. It's hilarious.

Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard. ~ Leviticus 19:27
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. ~ Matthew 5:17 (Jesus Christ)
If Christ came to fulfill the law then he would have adhered to the law in Leviticus and thus would not have cut the hair at the sides of his head or clip off the edges of the beard.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. ~ Isaiah 53:2
The scripture above is prophesying about Christ. So what ever Christ looked like as a man he was not beautiful or desirable in appearance.
God purposely didn't reveal Jesus' full appearance in scripture so that it would not cause conflict between races and peoples appearances. God is love not vanity.

Your question maybe should say " Why do SOME Christians assume Jesus has blond hair and blue eyes?"
MOST of us Christians know that He was not. We are walking, talking, intelligent people who can read and know that someone who was Jewish, born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, was most assuredly olive skinned with darker hair.

Most pictures we have representing Jesus come from Europe and so they have a European likeness - remember this is just mans interpretation.
Yes since Jesus came from the middle east he most likely looked like a Palestinian or Middle Eastern Jew. Not the Anglo-Saxon featured Jesus that we imagine Him to be.
Again no-one knows what Jesus looks like exactly and whatever picture you hold of Him in your heart if it helps you draw closer to Him then that is all good.
Jesus came for everyone regardless of race colour or creed

I don't think I've ever seen a picture or representation of Jesus with Blonde hair. I'd agree with you, he wouldn't have had blonde hair, who knows about the eye color though. It is more likely he was olive skinned with darker features as you suggest.

I've never thought that He had blonde hair and blue eyes....based on the average person in His time,I assume He would have had an olive-y completion and brown eyes.

I never thought He had blond hair, and I totally agree with you -- He most likely looked like a Jew. Now He is a resurrected being of glory, so I imagine He looks like light.
