In order to believe in the Bible
1. You have to be a believer---the Bible says to the fleshly man the things of God are foolishness.
2. Nicodemus was told by Jesus that he would have to be born again, and even then Nicodemus did not understand, and said "I will have to enter my mother's womb a second time?"
3. You have to believe in something higher than yourself, many people do not want to have any authority over them, they do not want a fear of punishment, which the legalists have preached.
they do not understand that being saved is an act of grace, which means UNDESERVED FAVOR.
4. People view the Bible as a system of do's and don'ts.
5. People argue that the Bible was written by man, any excuse not to have to give obedience.

There is an opposition to all things... there will always be some who will believe and some who will not.... we were given our agency to choose... some will choose the good and some will not! The Bible is not hard to believe in... it is full of the history of our world... from the creation to the time of Jesus Christ... and there is more... the history didn't end there either... it continues on every day.. even now with you and me... we are making our own history for our descendants to read about us someday! Will they believe in us? Who knows?

It's because it's unbelievably contradictory. I grew up Christian. I still believe in God but not the Bible. Correction - I don't believe in many things said in the Bible. So to avoid being selective (the book is written in such a way that being selective is dangerous than not believing in it at all) I chose not to believe it. I however respect opinions of those who believe in it. That's how they see it and who am I to judge their conviction!!!

I am reminded of my childhood when I do not want to listen to my parents, I want to decide things on my own, cause I think I am grown enough. But now I understood parents mean good to us. We often tend to reject the advices we get from the people who love us genuinely.
In the same way, it was hard for me to even read the bible even though I was a christian. Its a collection of how God helped His people when they called Him for help and about a saviour who can save us in the court of justice from our guilt. And when I knew that He is still helping the helpless who call to Him today, I believed.

Because it's full of contradictions and illogical statements, oh and evil.
Ex 30:35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy:
30:36 And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.
30:37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.
30:38 Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.
I mean is this Monty Python or what? "Don't use God's special perfume!"

Personally, I think alot of it has to do with the Church. Quite frankly, it has lost touch with the people. Everyday it seems more like an organized political machine which wants your votes, money, and obedience. Long ago their focus use to be helping you reach salvation.

some of these people who do not want to believe are just to hard hearted. They don't want to believe that there is a GOD out there just waiting for them to come to him. I think they don't want to admit that somebody besides themselves knows that there is something better for them
