This is one of the worst feelings in the world. I cannot move, cannot yell, I just have to sit through the terror. I often feel as if someone is very close to my face and a loud noise seems to pulse through my house. This is one of the most terrifying things that I could ever experience. Anybody know anything about it?

I get this ALL the time and it is the most horrifying experience ever. It is like someone strapped you down to the bed and took your voice box away. How do yours come about? I always see some strange man in my house. He's just walking around with a gun and I can't do anything. I wake up and my muscles HURT! It feels like I have been in the boxing ring for an hour. I know what you are going though.

I was told by my sleep therapist that this is the early stages of narcolepsy. I have had three sleep studies and I can't duplicate the experience in the room. All I can suggest to you is to go to your doctor and tell him about the sleep problems. He will then referrer you to a sleep therapist and then you will go through some tests. They will put electrodes on your head, legs and arms and a pulse meter on your finger. You will be monitored in a pitch black room all night. The jelly is really hard to get out of your hair too! I had one where they made me get up at 6:00 and stay awake for two hour then nap for two hours then stay awake for two hours and so on and so on until about 6:00pm. That was the most miserable one. But enough horror stories. It needs to be dealt with.

If you catch it in the early stages there are more options for you and it is easier to treat. I would strongly suggest seeing your doctor. It may sound like hell, but it's better then waking up to sore muscles and terrifying nightmares. Mine got so bad that I didn't even want to sleep anymore. If you want to talk bout it you can email me. Good Luck to you and take care!
