I would find another place to stay. I mean, no matter what you want to see in L.A. you're going to have to drive there. why not stay in a nicer place? The Santa Monica area (as stated before) is a good choice. I you want to be further east, then Pasadena is nice.

Hollywood is not UNsafe....but - it can be kind of creepy at night.

I agree with person above. I stayed at a hotel one block away from there once, and I wouldn't say I felt unsafe at any time, but it was rather creepy because I never used to come home earlier than midnight. I would try the Days Inn in West Hollywood (pretty sure it's on Santa Monica Blvd.), one of the safest and most friendly neighbourhoods in town, and definitely not creepy at all. It's not too far from the other location, either, but the neighbourhood is MUCH better.

Yes, I live near Hollywood. It might not be quiet, but it is safe because there are so many people around. Oh, and by the way, I doubt bilow has been to Hollywood- it's Sunset Blvd, not Sunset Dr.

Call the front desk and ask. It's not an especially dangerous part of town, many rich people go up and down that Blvd, which is very long.

I live in the L.A. area, and there is no way I would stay in the Days Inn in Hollywood.

If you are visiting as a tourist, you should check out the hotels in Santa Monica, or those associated with Universal Studios....

I've been to Sunset Dr. in Hollywood before. when the sun goes down all the decent people get off the streets and the freaks come out.
