First meet someplace and see if you actually like this guy. Spend some holidays together. And if things go along good then think about moving.
Internet is just like an introduction place. You get to know each other a lot at it but it still is no replacement for the real world. Otherwise people would have been conceiving and downloading babies from here all the time.

I would go out for a visit before moving out there. I had a long distance relationship and it was very difficult. Go for a visit, meet in a neutral spot, and get to know each other in person. Don't move out there on the facts given over the internet or phone. Example I could tell you I'm a doctor and have a lavish lifestyle. Its not true but you wouldn't have any idea. Check it out before you quit your job and lose your home on a whim.

Don't even think about moving until the two of you have met, spent time with each other in person, and gotten to know each other. If the relationship develops with you visiting each other a few times, you could make plans to move closer. Like in another 6 months or so.
I mean really, why do people think they can make decisions this big based on a few emails and phone calls? (I'm smacking my own forehead as I type that)

I met my husband through the internet but never would have moved half way across the company without first meeting him face to face several times and getting to know him in the real world not just in the electronic one, as well as investigating him pretty throughly first. I'm not saying any misleading info is being given to you but moving to a new place alone, no job, no one to help if things go wrong is just not the wisest nor safest decision.

First off, you've never seen him in person? Internet, phone and text messaging can hide SO many things. Be safe and have either one of you guys meet up somewhere WITH FRIENDS. If all goes well, then good luck!

well I must agree that if you are somewhat interested in this person then you should consider meeting each other BUT you have to be VERY careful when thinking of meeting people from over the Internet you MUST let everybody know where you are and I think you should go there with a friend or somebody you know well or ask HIM to come and SEE YOU instead!!!
Please be VERY careful!

This is a hard one. Maybe a holiday to meet first. It is always good to take a trusted relative or a friend to meet the person so they can give there honest opinion and to ensure you are safe.

Take a Long Holiday and see how it feels when spending time together!
Best to get a lie-of-the-land before committing!

If he can afford to travel to meet you, that would be the honourable thing to do. Surely he doesn't expect you to change your life for someone you don't know?
