By ptting holes in the silencer core does the power of the bike increase???
usually i hear people saying that they would put holes in the silencer core of the bike and would get more power ... especially in an RX
i somehow feel that only the noise increases and not the power...
please clarify...

I suppose you are talking about the muffler, and the answer is no, It just makes more noise ! However if you modify the exhaust, along with rejeting the carburetor, you can increase horse power.

Silencer / Muffler is simply to reduce the noise by diffusing the exit velocity of the gases in the exhaust. All the power is produced by the engine only. Yes by drilling the holes you would increase the noise level and the hot exhaust may be dangerous coming out of those holes.

In good old days, people used to pull out the silencer pipe from the "Yezdi" to increase the noise...

silencer on a bike? you mean muffler on a motorcycle?

Yes, pushing exhaust through muffle uses up engine power, so removing it increases power. Drilling holes so some of the exaust can eascape early will increase the power a bit.

make sure the holes point towards the sides or back, so that exhaust does not work as a jet engine pushing you backward.
