It will definitely have to be bleached, even if u tried something blonde, it still wouldnt work. I use to rinse my hair jet black all the time and tried to rinse it red, it would only take on my roots, because they were brown, it looked weird, so i gave up. But rinse definitely wont work, but maybe try a permanent color, remember to keep it conditioned on a regular, if your hair is already weak or damaged DO NOT PERMANENTLY COLOR IT AT ALL it will only get worse.

Henna will add color to your hair, but it will not lighten your hair.
If you put henna in your hair and do not like the color, there is nothing a salon can do after that that won't damage your hair. Henna is a vegatable dye, which sounds healthy, but when reacting with a professional color, will fry your hair. Rinses add color, but will not lighten. Put henna in your hair and do a box color to correct it, it will fry your hair.

Sorry but this is going to be very DIFFICULT. You will need to strip the current color before you can come ANYWHERE close to your natural color. Unless you are very smart with hair color and how it works I suggest you head to a salon! They will be very helpful and know exactly how to correct the color back to red (without damage) --(doing so yourself will 97% likely cause damage of some sort.) Another option is cut your hair off and let it grow out fresh and nicely. :-) Best of luck! xx
