i do not know what part of the bible expresses this kind of blessing.....jesus christ prayed over people to heal them but never know about blowing and pushing them.......don't quote me but i am not really convinced about all this practise of praying, blowing and pushing them and then they are cured. i believe it to be a lot of "balony" but do not want to offend anyone who may believe in it.....this is just my personal opinion.

i am basically a christian traditionalist and never really was an evangelical christian.....

God works in mysterious ways. Jesus applied spit to a person and healed them. So is blowing on someone out of the question? as for falling down there are at least two similar instances in the bible. First, I think it was Ezekial that God picked him up on his feet by the Holy Spirit. Secondly, Paul was knocked to the ground by the Holy Spirit. In a true move of the Holy Spirit people can do some unusual things. Unfortunately, people sometimes act and do these things on their own. Sometimes it is difficult to tell what is happenning. Personally, I like the thought of trying to do something (proactive) like the laying on of hands, annointing of oil etc. Even if nothing hugely spiritual happens it generally is not a negative experience. So no use slinging mud on those that are trying. I imagine the success rate for healing or operating the gifts of the spirit is much higher in the churches that try versus those that do not.

I don't know! I always gathered it was for entertainment and money-making purposes. Though, I don't believe it and I think people such as Benny Hinn are frauds, I don't know of anyone this has been done to. I guess they're trying to play God and blow the Holy Spirit into them or something...I can only speculate.

Because the 'holy spirit' was originally thought to be contained in one's words, and therefore breath, the breathing/blowing on the person is meant to symbolize the transfer of the holy spirit from one person to another, theoretically from a stronger vessel of the spirit into a weaker one or one in need of refilling/recharging.

Since the simply act of a breath wasn't enough of a 'demonstration' for some people's faith, others began to be more physical in their 'metaphors' and in their responses. From the breath came the laying on of hands, and then the falling to the floor.

Some of that is more theatre than anything (being pushed and falling on the floor in exctasy looks more 'effective' than a simple breath) and thus more showy than spiritual. One act is not necessarily more 'spiritual' than another. One does not even need to call forth the person to pass on the blessing/healing, since it is doubtful the holy spirit needs close proximity in order to reach the person. The greater the faith, the less 'demonstrative' one needs to be.

It reminds me of a George Carlin bit about prayer where he prays to god, the sun, and Joe Pesci, and he finds that no matter who he prays to it's about a 50/50 chance that his prayers are answered. The moral of the story is that prayer, if anything, is worthless. When a prayer is "answered" (you get what you pray for) it's because there was already a 50/50 chance (either he lived or he died) of you getting what you asked for.

The presence of the Holy spirit is very strong if you are spiritual and really believe in God. When i went to one of our service during the altar call i felt that the floor is spinning so fast that i almost passed out, then when i open my eyes and look down the floor is not spinning. It happened 3 times.

Dunno about the blowing bit

When people are filled with the Holy Spirit they can fall down - however if they are pushed then they are just pushed.

There is nothing in the Bible that says you have to fall over to receive the Holy Spirit. Also nothing about blowing on people to the best of my knowledge

I have prayed for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit and some have fallen over (it's more like their whole bodu just relaxes) and have never had to blow on them or push them

Look in Genesis 2 where God blew his Spirit into A to give life. Breath and Spirit are one and the same word in Hebrew.
The falling down is called "slaying in the Spirit." I'm not aware of a similar situation in the Bible except in the miracle of Jesus where he cast a demon out of a lad and he fell down as if dead.
I know it is real. My wife is married to a pastor, has a fine college education, and is someone you would not want to meet in a dark alley if she wanted to go through it. We went to a revival with a preacher from Africa. She went forward and down she went. Thankfully a "professional" catcher was there because I almost dropped her.
