Believe it or not, I think it's funny when my kids TRY and lie to me. My 8 years old will swear up and down that he didn't do it or whatever the case may be but the more I ask him the same question over and over again, his voice will drop down and soon you can hardly hear him anymore. It never fails! Usually he finally will give up and ask if he'll get in trouble if he tells the truth!! My daughter on the other hand, will flat out lie to your face. She's only three years old and thinks she can get away with anything. I've learned that reverse psychology always works with her. If I ask her if she colored all over my wall she'll tell me no, but if I twist it and ask her if she drew mommy a pretty picture then she'll give herself away everytime!!!

Yes! My middle one just cannot lie and almost always tells the truth but will occasionally try to omit or withhold the truth. When I realize this, I merely ask him directly and get the truth.
My oldest has lied almost ever since he could talk. The thing is, he lies almost all of the time, so I know that he is lying most of the time. He will lie when I see the truth right before hand. I can watch him do something, ask him why he did, but he will deny it with his whole heart, he will even cry about it, and promise that it's the truth. He is 12 and still does this. I don't know what to do with him other than to NEVER trust him.
My youngest is 7 and he has just started to try and lie this past year. While he is better than the middle one, he still isn't very good at it and when confronted will start smiling.
It's true that parents know everything, especially us Momma's!

My daughter is only two so I would say that she doesnt know how to lie yet but when she isnt sure of her answer when you ask her something she widens her eyes and just says yes. I am thinking that this is something that I can use in the future in case she does lie.

i have a baby so i wouldn't at this time even think he could lie because he can't talk. but when i would lie to my mother when i was younger she knew until i got older and got better at it she didn't have a clue. in the end when i hit 18 i ended up confessing to my lies only because i felt guilty and couldn't stand lying to my own mother.
