CHECK THIS OUT
It is not revelations, it is revelation, the word in greek points to one single revelation. In Greek it is apocalypsis a Chisto, the revelation of Christ.
It deals with what is called eschatology, or "the last things"
However Revelation does not only deal with things that are to come. Some things have already happened, use this example
And the Dragon drew up a third of the stars and flung them to the earth, that is a description of the fall of Satan and a third of the angels, which happened long ago.
John was exiled to the Island of Patmos by the emporer Domitian. He wrote the book there, he wrote to the seven churches that he was once the pastor of. When it says to the angel of the church of smyrna write----the word angel, comes from the Greek word angelos which can also mean messenger, or pastor---he was simply saying to the future pastor of the church of Smyrna write.
Basically it is a book of world events from beginning to ending, and NOTE THIS; It quotes all of the prophets, to include the minor prophets at some point or other. And quotes text from every book in the Bible at some point or other.
It is the only book in the Bible which promises you a blessing just for reading it.

It is the Book Of Revelation. It is a very detailed piece of work. It is a prophetic "book" about the "last days" and events that will happen prior to, during and after. It is a vision or a series of visions that was supposedly revealed to the Apostle John while he was in exile on the Island Of Patmos where he was sent to live as a form of punishment for being a xtian. There is the letters to the seven churches which some people believe are the stages of christianity thru time. It is probably to area churches at the time. There is a lot of symbolism in the writings. Why don't you just google it and get a quick summary? Shouldn't you have already read it?

mike: The basic theme is the Book of Revelation is a book describing both, the end of this age - how it will come about, and the creation of a New Heaven and a New Earth where God the Father will abide with His people. Jesus Christ will return to this earth to establish order and to usher in a future hope for all of us - every human ever, born. A terrifying time which leads into happy times, ultimately, for 99.9% of all humans ever born. There will be no evil anymore only abundance for all and no more death . Revelation in short, tells of the consequences for the way we all live now and the HOPE we all have in Jesus Christ at
His return to earth. Mankind will finally become at peace with His God.

Its primary focus is around the visions which John was given on the island of Patmos. The visions are apocalyptic in nature and deal with the last 7 years of life as we know it.

The first 3 1/2 have are supposed to be peaceful, then the antichrist makes a grab for the Jewish temple and all hell (literally) breaks loose.

After the last 3 1/2 years, Christ returns and abolishes Satan for 1000 years (while setting up a kingdom on the earth).

At the end of the 1000 years, Satan is let loose to again try and deceive people. Then God says, "Right. That's it, I've had enough."

Then the judgment. A new heaven and earth are created. And an eternal hell.

The end.

Well for one thing the proper title is A Revelation of John, and to get a brief overview of it would not do it justice. But I will try anyway, using figurative language it is a prophetic book of the bible. It does not paint a grim future as many would have you believe, but rather it outlines what will happen before, during and after "The great day of Jehovah" a day that "everyone will have to know" who Jehovah is, and on that day God will destroy all enemies of true worship, including Satan the Devil. Also it tells us a wonderful hope for the future of both mankind here on a restored paradisaic earth, and of the 144,000 anointed ones that will rule as kings and priests in Heaven along side Jehovah's only begotten son Jesus Christ.

It is a book that brings an end to the Bible in symbols. It talks of the Lord's day and how John was in the spirit and made to see things which were to hereafter. John sees end time events in symbol form. It cotains things which will happen to the gentile church as well as the Jewish church. It also shows the end of the wicked people and the righteous people

Revelations is mostly about the sky falling down on the earth,
To the author of Revelation, the stars are just little lights that can fall to the ground from the sky. 12:4 A third of the stars fall down on the earth. in reality we know that the stars are Suns many time bigger than the earth in far away galaxies.

The key to understand that book is Rev1:10.. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

The Lord's Day..or Day of The Lord..
