I had to appear for a hearing (motion to change venue) in a Texas Justice of the Peace Precinct Court today.

All federal and state courts/offices SHOULD have been closed but here in TX, one can never tell... Just checked on the TX ST gov page: Senate Bill 134, 72nd Legislature Regular Session. Chaper 445. Approved and effective June 1, 1991 as an official state holiday. Was your court in session? Cause it shouldn't have been if it was.

Yes, George Washington and Abraham Lincolns holidays were canceled so that we could have MLK day, whoopee. It is a government holiday so you're paying for it and recieving no services in return.

Our courts were closed as was all goverment building in our state.
