It takes about 2 days for the medicine to get out of your system. In the mean time you may want to try some Benadryl to alleviate the symptoms of the allergy. It helps with itching and rash. The other thing is to write the medicine down that you had the allergy to and remember to mention thios allergy anytime your are asked if you have any allergies to medicines.

diclofenac is from a family of medicines called NSAIDs or NonSteroidalAntiInflammatoryDrugs which also includes aspirin, ibubrufen, and indomethacin etc. it is important to establish #1 if it is an allergic reaction or not(generalized itchy red skin lesions?) #2 what agent precipitated the allegy(anything else you have been exposed to in the last few days out of the usual?)it could well be the diclofenac. the issue with diclofenac and other members of its family is#1 they are the most commonly used analgesics and antiinflammatory drugs #2 there is a risk of being allergic not only to diclofenac but also to the whole family of drugs. so what i recommend is # 1 immediately stop the offending drug # 2take an antihistamine for the symptoms # 3 consult an allergy specialist to establish the hypersensitivity , you might need to get an allergy bracelet because you might get an injection of this drug (say if you go to hospital) which could prove lethal.

Call your doctor before taking anything over the counter to make sure there is no drug interactions with the medication you just took. Or he may prescribed something else.

Otherwise, benydryl usually works pretty well (as long as you're not allergic to any of the ingredients).

Also make a note of the type of drug you're allergic to so you won't be prescribed drugs from the same family. Ex. sulfur base drugs which I think septra is derived from.

It could take up to 21 days for the drug to leave your body completely, but typically you should not experience the side-effects for this long. If the rash has not cleared up in one week, call your doctor and touch base with him/her, to see if he/she wants you to do something differently. If the rash itches, you can apply hydrocortisone topically to the most affected areas, up to three times per day. Go to your local drug store and buy a generic 2% topical ointment or cream, such as Cortaid or its generic equivalent.
