Just kidding. I meant to do that. But I am not perfect and I don't mean to be rude, but I do reread and correct as many of my mistakes that I know of that I made, cause I do make many. But it is hard to understand the question and answer sometimes the way it is worded or spelled. It is okay if you are not the best speller, but sometimes I think people can do better if they reread what they wrote. If a person can not do better, then I understand perfectly, and that is fine, and I still try to answer the question. I know if you set out to find mistakes in my work, you will find them, but not as many if I did not go back and correct them, because I have had to correct many. So please don't get mad, I am human too. Just thought I would make a suggestion in order for you to get more of the right answers, possibly, and to make it easier to read.

Thanks to all of you that understood that I wasn't trying to put anybody down, Like I said I am human too, and it is okay if people can not help it like I said, but I just know some people can help it.

Yes! Spellcheck is a great idea, I didn't think of that.

Yes, you should see some of my questions before I proofread and go back and change them. Answers too. So I am not pointing at the people who do not speak English well or to ones that did not do well in that subject in school or anything. I am just pointing to the ones that can write and spell better, but don't go back and reread and try to correct their mistakes. My excuse is that I have A.D.D., so I have to go back a lot and change mine.

Aaahh...another Spelling Nazi! :-)

Just kidding, Will Yam For Now. I can see you're quite "new" here. The longer you spend reading those Q and A, the better you will realize that it is a hopeless case, and that the people who take the time to proofread their work (like us) are in the minority.

People just can't be bothered, you know. And when most everyone are sloppy with their spelling, grammar and punctuation, then those who follow the road less travelled are bound to be seen as the outcasts in this informal community. I would rather be an outcast than a dunce, though.

It's kind of ironic because Americans tend to make fun of Asians like me who "mangle" their language. What they don't realize is that a lot of them are terrible users of the language themselves. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I rarely use the Check Spelling feature since I do a more thorough job at spotting spelling mistakes than the Spell Checker. (I'd really appreciate a Grammar Check though. Better than nothing, don't you think?) Besides, those arrows just go spinning round and round when dealing with a long answer. I don't have the patience to wait for it to finish.

Perhaps the administrators of Yahoo! Answers could add Country of Origin below the avatar of every user so we can identify and become more tolerant of bad spellers, etc. You say you're from a country where English is the main language...what is your excuse for using it so terribly?

Thanks for adding your voice to this "crusade" although I'm sad and afraid that it's just a small, small voice in a big, big forest.

I'm Italian and obviously English is my 2nd language.
I'm trying to be as much correct as possible with my spelling (also because I won't add tyiping mistakes to my own grammar's errors) and I'm always rereading my Q & A. I'm also trying using the Check Spelling but sometimes it happens that it's not properly working. There are rounding arrows that never stop and then I must give it up and edit my Q & A without this additional checking. I don't think I'm the only one having this 'problem' but this could be a further explanation why a lot of Q & A are so mispelled.

PS - BTW also this answer has been not checked by the authomatic control since it's not working. Then I reread it .... and cross my fingers there aren't too many mistakes. LOL :)

It has something to do with the bell curve. We can use the bell curve to say that yahoo has a large population. When you have a large population where you have to apply a particular rule, like grammar, some are going to be able to follow it and others will not. Let's say that good grammar is less common then bad grammar, but that it's not so difficult that everyone could not conform to it if they didn't try. This means that one standard deviation to the right. Shade everything to the right of that, and make that good grammar, and everything on the left is bad grammar.

At this point, about 67% of people have poor grammar, and 33% are inclined to have proper grammar. Of the 33% inclined to have good grammar, even some of those people do not proofread out of disregard for it. A percentage of those people will have poor grammar.

The spelling of some of the posters is so bad, I have to wonder if perhaps they didn't take a Berlitz class on English 20 years ago and are now trying to employ those skills.
The other problem with spell check is multiple meanings and spellings like two, too, to, etc. Again, if you're a non-native English speaker, I can cut some slack.
My concern is that most of the posters that have terrible spelling skills seem to be from the U.S.

Let's see,
To many times people tend to get the cart before the horse. as in

(I,1 2 C U)
(I want to see you), same thing just different
"No I really don't want to see you!!! But isn't it nice to have a non-combative brain and be so lazy so as not to care if you do something correctly?" Like spell checking. Perfection? So you can continue to joke and all others can continue to "NOT" spell check!!!Right

People don't proofread their answers (or use the spell check that's RIGHT THERE) because they're rushing to be one of the first to answer. People higher up on the answers are more likely to get "best answer."

Why they don't check the questions, I have no idea. Probably because half of them have no idea what proper grammar and spelling are and can't identify the errors.

It's a good question. It makes things so much easier when you do. Some people will skip a question because they have a hard time reading it. I, however have more sympathy for those who struggle with grammar and spelling than those who deliberately tipe liek dis.
