I don't want to be preahed to or have someone try to convert me. I'm just trying to figure out what I believe. I don't want someone telling me what I should think. I just want advice, insight, etc. Should I talk to a priest...rabbi...etc? Where else is there to go?

I think I would visit different houses of worship, then talk to one of the leaders. The theology department (as has been suggested) seems like a very excellent idea.

I really like and respect your question(s) because not to many people would try to seek the righteous of guidance. The first moves you should really consider is knowing what type questions you want to address. The reason why I ask it is because before you address your concern, it is important that you have carefully read the Holy Bible. If within the words of God you don't understand, call upon the Holy Spirit to guild you. He is the insight and most advise of them all.

Your questions must be more biblical because you mention two separate manners, priest or rabbi. But it is important for you to trust in God before men, because your questions could lead to conversing and I am sure that is not your intentions.

If you need the closeness of men, first pray to God for whoever you have in mind to consult with that the person be honesty and truthful. Now to answer your question directly by your words, go to a priest and rabbi and whoever you feel that may give you the support of you knowing God.

Let me repeat this to you, before you consult with anyone read the Bible first, give the Holy Spirit a chance to be in you. When you do consult with anyone, you'll at least be able decipher what is being told to you. And even after your consultation, pray on the matter of what the person have said to you, but what ever you do
don't allow Lucifer to whisper in your ears. God Bless

What is it that you are looking for? All anyone can ever truly tell you about is their own personal experience, and that is limited at best. Where one person finds God is not where another person would, or even should.

Here is as good a forum as any to ask any questions you have. You will meet a wider variety of people, and thus have access to more opinions and possibilities. From there, you can begin to seperate the wheat from the chaff, and in so doing, find the path you are looking for. You can also type in subjects to see what past discussions have had to say. Chances are any question you might have has already been brought up and discussed before, but you can always ask again (alot of people do).

Well what you can do is look at all of the religions out there and pick one for yourself. Instead of trying to talk to a priest, rabbi, or minister, just figure it out for yourself. Go to the library, look on the internet. There are full versions of different religious books on the internet. All you have to do is google them.

I can talk you through it if you want. I am a Christian but if you want to chat about what you are thinking and feeling more in depth, I can probably point you in a good direction. Email or IM me. But also, there are a lot of great people out there who know about all faiths...the issue is that they are all sure they are right, so I would say go in honestly, tell them where you are. Listen to what they all have to say and decide for yourself. God tells us that if you are truely seeking then you will find him.

Good Luck

I think you should go to a pastor of a non-denominational church & just ask questions. Then take the answers you receive and research them for yourself & pray & ask God to reveal the truth to you. He wants you to know the truth more than you want to know it. I promise He will lead you if you are seeking Him with an open heart.

This is actually about as open as it gets if you want to talk to people, other than that nearly everything is written down.... your journey begins!

We have everyone here! It makes me truly happy!

I have never seen so many people of different religious education and enlightenment in one place!

Even if you are REALLY NOT SURE WHAT YOU BELIEVE...
I urge you to try THIS...
"Ask God, to BRING SOMEONE INTO YOUR PRESENCE".
Like for instance, you bump into a Stranger, and that they give you HIS WORDS OF WISDOM THAT YOU NEED TO HEAR.
Ask God to COME INTO YOU HEART, or to GIVE you someone, even at the most UNEXPECTED TIME OR PLACE to SHARE HIS INSIGHT with you.
He will send you an angel, a guide, or a complete stranger...And you will know they are from GOD.
I mean, someone may just come totally, freak you out and say... " You know, I just have this feeling I am supposed to talk to you".
Or like" ONE UP on that"..., Someone comes up to you, after YOU ASK GOD FOR SOMEONE TO HELP YOU...and they say, " God has sent me to talk to you, at your request, Well here I am...what would you like to know, HOW MAY I HELP YOU?".
I know that would just probably freak you out.
But Really, if you ASK GOD TO TOUCH YOUR HEART, and SHOW YOU THE TRUTH.
HE TRULY WILL.
Ask Him for, Wisdom, comfort, compassion, love, trust, understanding...etc. and He will give you all these things and more.
I truly believe it.

If you do not want to be preached to I would start by reading the New Testament and asking God to guide me into all truths. Then if you still have questions go to your local Christian church and speak to a minister.
