I have been having this problem for a few weeks and it really is bothering me. I have even tried to wear a ankle support, but it still has spasms. I have not twisted or fell on it.Sometimes I think it goes into my calf and thigh. What can it be?

your best bet is to try and stretch it out when it starts to spasm. also heat can help relax the muscle. braces aren't really going to help much with muscle spasm because there designed to give your ankle support. in other words keep it from turning under.
you might want to consider taking potasium and calicum supplements. i know it helped me when i used to get really bad spasms in my calf from running. if it doesn't go away you might want to consult a doctor. sometimes little things can cause problems you're not aware of. (e.g. my left foot turned under slightly but it was my right ankle, which severly messed up any way, was the one that got hurt)

It sounds like you have nerve pinch. It will go away but the cause of pinch can range from having the ankle rested in wrong position or you had put lot of pressure on certain spot in your spine. This could also answer for your calf and thigh. Since muscles in that area are connected with ankle nerve.
