i lost 60 in 2 months by eating 500 calories a day, it was very hard to do, you have to really have the willpower. as soon as i started eating again i gained it back. i am trying the rice diet now,so far i have lost 12 pounds, in 12 days, one pound a day. You dont eat just rice, you eat fruit, veggies, low sodium bread, oatmeal, pasta. you can only have 500-1000 mg of sodium a day. people lose 30 pounds in a month but you have to really stick to it. to learn more about the diet you can go to www.thericedietforum.com

I would think that it's a little too much what you want to lose in such a short time. 2 pounds a week shouldn't be too difficult, 4 could be made, more would probably be very hard and not safe. Combination of exercise and we don't know if you've ever exercised because if you start you have to start slowly and progressively and watching your food intake, no sugars, no trans fats, no processed foods, no junk food ever.
good luck
I would also suggest that you check before with a doctor to see your overall health and have his opinion about what you should or can do.

i am sorry if you consider my answer stupid but a weight loss of 40 pounds in 9 weeks is very unhealthy. You should aim to only lose about 1-2 pounds a week. If u insist on losing weight in such a short period of time you will then only lose minimal fat. But the weightloss that this speed will only come from water and muscle atrophy. So if u try to lose weight that fast u will lose all your muscles and be left with a nice pouch of fat to remind you of ur endevours

You might with a good diet and lots of exercise although it would probably be particuraly difficult. Try drinking lots of water. Eat healthier snacks. Cut out on junk food. run, walk, skip, jump. watever you can do...keep active eat healthy! I wish you the best of luck!
and no offence but most studies show that taking laxatives actually dont help anyway because by the time it hits your body has absorbed everything it needs from the food. not trying to be a know it all or anything. really. just saying.

You could only lose it that fast if you put it on that fast. However, you could lose close to 20 lbs and that would make a real difference.
Take the weight you want to be and multiply by 15 calories per pound. That's how many calories you need to take in each day. For every mile you walk, that's 100 calories that you can lose. If you starve yourself, you just cannibalize your muscles and you won't lose fat. Take it slow and easy and it will stay off.

Yes, you can. But it sucks really bad and you have to make sure to not slip up. Instead of starving yourself like one poster suggested you can do the Atkins diet. It really does work. But if you have any gallbladder or kidney stone problems I would not suggest it. Also be sure to drink a ton of tap water while you do it. Bottled or distilled water might not have enough sodium and minerals. Make sure to do light exercise every day. As your fat breaks down you will suffer headaches and and muscle pain from released toxins. This is not a fun way to lose weight but it is much better than starving yourself. This diet will not kill you, millions have tried it and lost weight, but it is very hard.

Yes, stop eating sugar. I lost 35 pounds that way. It took me about 2 or 3 months, so that's just about the same time frame. Actually, I was sort of trying to lose weight when this happened, but the main reason why I stopped eating sugar was to get healthy. I was convinced that I had an overgrowth of intestinal candida and had read that the best way to get rid of it was to avoid sugar.

Not safely. The safe rate to lose weight is a pound a week, which is eqivalent to a deficiency of 500 calories per day. Any combination of exercise and reduced eating adding up to this will serve.

Not healthy--a healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week; in 9 weeks you could loss a max of 18-27 pounds--and this is assuming you don't reach a plateu where you don't lose weight for a week or two.

its all about how determined you are... you can lose that much if you excersize more than 4 hours a day and go on a strict low-carb diet. Its all up to you if you can handle that and dont cheat yourself during that time.
