50 lbs is a lot! You deserve a damn big pat on the back for that.
Why you see yourself in the mirror the same way?
Did you previously wear clothes that were too tight for you? Lots of people only recognise that they've lost weight when their clothes become baggy.
Also, when you look in the mirror - maybe you focus on your fattier parts too much? Do you have a full length mirror? If so, try to focus on yourself as a whole.
You're on a really good roll, so please don't give up just because you can't see it.

I don't want to be the negative one here because this MAY not be you at all.. I am just forewarning. I got really big with both of my boys and lost all the weight afterwards (80 lbs first time and 65 the second) Here I am now .. 22, two kids, and the same weight as I was in high school, but it's like it is NEVER enough. I guess I am just saying sometimes it is just self confidence. Because I feel as big now as I did when I was over two hundred!! Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you are beautiful EVERY SINGLE MORNING! I promise this will make a huge difference. Don't forget we are our own worse critic. And I agree with someone's answer ^^ up there... look at some old pictures.. tape one to your mirror if you need to. Best of luck to you

That is a very great accomplishment, but as an aspiring medical student i have to ask how you went about losing that weight. There are two reasons why you might not notice your weight loss. Firstly, if you over excercised(unfortunately for weight watchers this does exist) you will reach a point where your body will stop using fat as energy but will begin to draw upon proteins. It can therefore be deduced that your body has used your muscles for energy which will lead to musle atrophy. Secondly, if you starved yourself, the same process of tapping into protein and muscle stores for energy occurs. But if these two are not the case then your mind has altered itseld and has gotten use to your new image and simple tells you that you havnt lost weight. A simple test is to ask a truthful friend.

Try a book called Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell. Usually you can see a difference in about three weeks, so if you're not seeing it, you will need to work on it. Dr. Maxwell was a plastic surgeon, and sometimes when he operated on people, they wouldn't see a difference, so he figured out what causes that and how to change it.
Congratulations on making such a huge difference in your health.
You might want to go to the National Weight Control Registry for hints on how to keep it off. You can register, too, and tell others how you did it and be a leader.

I felt the same way when I lost weight...
I couldn't tell until I looked at some pictures taken before the weight loss and compared it to my new body

Well that depends if you lost the weight by exercising then you should have seen the difference. But if you just stopped eating then more than likely you won't see the change until you lose more.

You see the problem is that you're still fat. Lose another 45 lbs and then you'll notice. It's not really all that complicated.

Have you bought new clothes? If you're wearing the same old baggy t-shirts and baggy jeans, then you won't be able to see the new you. You have to pick out fitted clothes that complement your body type.
