Since you didn't ask a question, and just stated facts we agree with. I have questions for you.
What are you doing to change these negative views?
Are you doing breed education?
Are you rescuing these dogs, and providing food, home, and medical care?
Do you volunteer your time to the breed?
I mean I hope you are physically doing something to help end the ignorance regarding this breed.

i'm never against the breed, yet as with all dogs, i think of you will desire to check out the breeder AND the proprietors. My guess is which you get a dogs (of any breed) that has come from a line that has been bred to combat (and by this I recommend the breeder has bred purely the main agressive animals they have many times returned) and you'd be able to desire to have a issue. The bummer approximately that's if the customer/adopter does not do their learn or be responsive to this: issues. Then, couple that with proprietors who abuse or do exactly not cope with/prepare their animal properly and, wow, an excellent better issue! returned, this may be any breed of dogs. the bigger adult men do get a bad rap, particularly simply by fact the aptitude for injury and dying is slightly greater (what relating to the Rottie who killed that poor woman in San Francisco? talk approximately undesirable proprietors/undesirable breeders). nonetheless, the Pit was once "u.s.'s family members dogs". i think of Petey from our gang exchange right into a Pit or Pit combination, wasn't he? Banning a dogs of any breed is a bad theory, i think of, yet I merely approximately prefer to work out needed coaching instructions for every physique who gets a dogs of any length! The lame-o proprietors are giving every person a bad rap! For the checklist, I also have a small dogs and that's a conflict to maintain up with the coaching, yet oh sooooo needed! sturdy success to the Pit I say! regrettably, he's plenty maligned...

yes i completely agree! but must we stir this up every night? you're going to get answers that will say no they're dangerous because look at the news(as if the news is a reliable source) they kill people. and they're bad dog's they'll eat your face off and the neighborhood kids. and i knew a nice pit, but one day they just went nuts......and nothing added about the dog was outside, not socialized or the person had never handeled a pit or any other powerful breed before.
then you're going to get the educated answers of it's the owners. yes they can be dangerous, but if in the wrong hands and we need to do something about the owners of these dogs. that they are great dogs in the right hands if properly trained and socialized.
and if i may add my usual, since here we are again. do we not understand the type of person that usually ownes this dog because they need to look "tough" will just go get another type of "tough" breed if their pit is taken away or outlawd.
have i covered it? can we stop?

Hey, Calm down. I love Pitt bulls and I am an advocate for them. As a matter of fact, I made a comment about someone who was upset because they didn't want to walk their small dog and was scared of big dogs and I said I would be more scared of small dogs. She ended up stalking me and writing nasty things in my questions. So, just some advice, I would be careful on what you say on here. People are psychotic and won't let you voice an opinion of your own! I love ALL animals. Big dogs, Small dogs, cats, chinchillas, parrots, doves, fish, ducks, geese, chickens, I have owned them all! I think people are ignorant for criticizing one animal when it is the owners responsibility to take care of them. I am with you when you say that APBT's get a bad wrap, but putting a question out there for everyone is just opening yourself to problems. I am really tired of people declawing their cats and spraying them in the face with water, but every time I say something some crazy person stalks me and tells me I am a horrible person. All I wanted to do when I joined this group is help people, but they don't care!
Now, I am not criticizing you. I fully support you and I feel that you have a valid argument. I am just trying to let you know that no matter how hard you try, these people won't change their minds. They are very strong minded (ignorant if I do say so myself) and will just make your life miserable. I won't, but they will! Thanks for having the balls to actually say something and I would report any backlash you get ASAP or it will be impossible to get rid of! Good luck to you!
PS- Notice that nobody will come out and face you. Everyone on this forum is on your side. Everyone who isn't is a coward!

I totally agree with you. Each pup's potential is determined by his genetics but more so his environment. Unfortunately, people all over the world have always had a morbid fear of the 'monster hound from hell'.. and the APBT is the unfortunate scapegoat most of the time. Furthermore, a poorly trained dog is his own downfall (though it is through no fault of his own). The lack of training usually means a dog becomes unsuitable as a pet and ends up in shelters, being transferred from home to home and inevitably being put to sleep. I would suggest you direct your frustration to dog breeders instead. If breeders (and pet shops YUCK!) were more responsible and made sure their pups went to proper homes, we'd definitely save these poor dogs from their unjust reputations.

I don't have pit bulls but as a previous owner of a Doberman and a German Shephard and a Rott I understand how you feel. People are scared of breeds marked as mean but they never take time to realize it isn't the breed it is the individual dog. I know my cousins pitt bull has never bitten anyone. I know my friend raises them because very few people will take them in and they are fine around her children. People need to stop getting dogs to train them to be mean. Before long you will see other breeds being labled mean. People just don't treat your dogs bad, love them, take care of them as if they were your child. I do believe that pups born to a mom/dad that are aggressive will be though and that is a big problems with pit bulls amongst other breeds. They are beautiful dogs though all the ones labled mean.

I agree, but what's the question?
My friend's sister has a beautiful APBT puppy. The only issue I have with pit bulls is they really are very strong dogs without meaning to be. Everytime that dog jumped on my leg, I swore I'd find paw-shaped bruises later.

I so totally agree with "Cagney" . She is very educated, and is sharing an excellent opinion. First i think she should be picked for the best answer, she sure earned her 10 points. And second i would like to thank her for educating us all about pits.
Great answer.

I agree. But unfortunately the Pit Bull has a mean gene in it say compared to a collie. Collies were bred to herd animals. Pit bulls unfortunately were breed to be ferocious. Look at a lion. A lion can be domesticated but it still has the mean gene in it.
