If they have reason to believe that he was involved and not just an onlooker than he can be taken into police custody and questioned if they say he's been arrested. He will probably remain in the detention facility until you go to court. After that it's up to the prosecutor and judge to decide if he should remain in the detention facility or if he should be released into your custody (since he's a juvenile) until everything is cleared up and sorted out. If they think he's a threat to the community or that he will try to do something like this again, then they may keep him in the facility until they decide further proceedings.

My guess is that your son is probably telling you a different story than the police has pieced together from all accounts of what happened. You need to get a copy of the police report to really know everything that the police were working with. This is what the juvenile court is relying upon in making their decision. It sounds like there was some belief/evidence that your son was a ringleader in the situation.

Get the police report. Regardless, make sure that your son gets some help, because you know that the very fact he was involved means he needs it.

Maybe the authorities have reason to believe that your son was one of the instigators. I know this is a very hard thing for a parent to go through, but not only are his actions very serious, no matter how many others were involved, they are also very sick! Your son and those others involved need help!!!!! Hopefully, going through this ordeal, he will get the help he needs. A parents natural instinct is to try to protect their children, but he's 13. He needs HELP! You can't be there to get him off the hook all of his life and the next time he gets involved in something like this he may succeed. TOUGH LOVE!!!!!!!

I'm really not trying to sound rude, but maybe your son needs a wake up call...hopefully after this experience he'll be on the straight and narrow.

The only person that can really answer your question about how long would be the lawyer...

go to the station and get the police report and ask questions if you don't agree get a lawyer because it doesn't seen fair that so many were involved and only 2 were charged

is it possible that the others were only spectators, and that ur son and the other boy arrested were the two that actually set the boy on fire? or at least maybe thats what the other 4 are saying.

Maybe the two arrested were the ones responsible for everything, I know your son will tell you differently for his sake, but only you know your son?????

There's two sides to every story. I'm not saying whether or not you son is guilty I was not there so I do not know but if he is FOUND guilty he's in a heap of trouble.
