"If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." (John 15:18-19)

And Jesus prayed, "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them [those Christians who love and follow the Messiah] because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You should take them out of the world,
but that You should keep them from Satan." (John 17:14-15)

A stark warning . . .

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself [his soul] destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me (Jesus) and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed . . ." (Luke 9:25-26)

"So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth,
separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
(Matt 13:49-50)

"The world" is all those who do not believe and have no real faith in Jesus, God, and the Bible and who ridicule, scoff at, or despise those who do . . .

"The world" are all those who deny Jesus as Lord and willfully reject His offer of forgiveness. This includes most of the people on the Earth. This also included Christians before we learned of Jesus and realized what He did for each of us on the Cross. Believing Christians go to church because we know we're sinners and can't escape the torment of Hell and get into Heaven on our own ... not because we think we're so good. Jesus says He is drawing a people out of the world . . . and He also calls Satan "the ruler of this world." The world is powerful. It despises the Cross.

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life --is not of the Father, but is of the world." (I John 2:15-16)

"Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world
makes himself an enemy of God." (James 4:4)

It's as normal as breathing, eating and drinking. Anyone who is Christian obviously has no self-respect, so it's just logical to lose all respect in a person once they reveal that they are in fact a lier... I mean Christian. Anyone who believes some douchebag in space that looks like Santa Claus created the Earth in 7 days or whatever the fuq that piece of **** book a third-grader could write better reads, doesn't deserve respect. Women made from the rib of some naked homo prancing around in some gay-*** garden full of shite animals, give me a break, BOOOOO-RRRRING! Christ died for our sins? Whatchu talking about Willis?! That dude railed 13 year old boys, 13 year old BOYS!!! And that beard and mustache? Hello, the Village People called, you got a callback! Moses parted the Red Sea, YAWN! Ark of the Covenant, more like the Arkof the Chupacabra - BOOYAH!!! DOING! I can go on and on all day!

Yes! I am so glad that I am not the only one. I feel the same way as soon as someone starts to go on about their religion. I think that anyone who can fall so completely into anything (or any religion) is desperate for acceptance and validation. Why is believing to be a good person just for the sake of it such a terrible thing. I totally feel that everyone has a right to believe what they would like, but with Christians it's like they feel like everyone else is wrong and they are the only ones that are right. I think it's terrible that the only way they can live a decent life is by telling everyone around you how terrible he/she is.

You know, there are some good Christians out there. Like the ones who aren't really Christians! lol
But to be fair, I don't think their religious beliefs alone is a reason to "lose" respect for somebody. Religion shouldn't define who a person is as a human being.

Yes its normal...because you, then, know that their behaviour is based on what someone else (bible etc) says. Their identity and free will is not based on their own natural integrity...its manufactured to fit an ideal based on a political book, written a long time ago, that is full of inconsistencies, fairytales, male chauvansim. How can you respect a person when you dont know WHO that person really is?

Mind you....I'd apply the question to all practising religious zealots not just christians.

I don't. Generally I assume when I meet someone that they've probably just accepted their parents' beliefs. So I'd say I gain respect for someone who tells me they've converted to atheism, rather than losing respect for someone who tells me they're a Christian.

Boy and atheist say Christians are narrow minded sickos. Only two or so people here were open minded, the rest were totally closed minded bigots.

A N---- by any other name is still a N-----.

And they can't even see it.

I think those of us who are not christian just have a tendancy to look down on anyone who can't think for themselves. I hate the idea of a book written by a bunch of guys a long time ago telling me what to do....in a different language so that the translation isn't all that great.

About as normal as it would be to lose respect for someone who tells you that he or she is atheist.

Which is to say, abnormal, shallow, and laughably hypocritical of someone who claims to have more respect for an individual's right to not follow the herd. To define oneself by not being "X" is just as sheeplike as defining oneself by "X." Baaa!

Yes. Just as it is normal to pity someone because they are from Canada.
