holy crap! She asked a simple question, she didn't ask to be judged. Postpone your day b/c you want plastic plates..get a life. Okay, sorry about that rant. I found some great plates at BJs, its like Sams. Also you might want to check ebay, you never know what you will find on there. Oriental Trading co. Party city. Good luck!

I purchased some nice plastic plates that looked like glass plates for a social function at work from Party City. They may also have some that look like china. I think there is nothing wrong to finding alternatives to glass or chinal if you are trying to save costs.

Are you also looking for the reflections silverware? it is the plastic silverware the looks tottaly real.
by the way you willnot find these items at a party city or sams club and these plates have been used at some of the most lavish partys in ny and hollywood.

For the plates, the cost is comparable. Plus as you mentioned, its the earth friendly thing to do. May I add another positive? You will elevate your event and impress your guests! Just because your reception is a casual affair at your home... is no reason to skimp on the overall look of the event and the comfort of your guests. Plastic plates or flatware ALWAYS seem to cause a spill. I dont care how "nice" the plastic flatware is, food always goes flying when I try to cut or spear something with it! Go with the rented stuff. Your guesst will notice and they will appreciate it when they dont have sauce on their dress.

Not tacky. It makes sense. It makes for easy clean up, and can save you some money. Look into cometsupply.com. They have a wide range of wonderful items, and GREAT customer service. And probably something that will fit your needs.

We had them after a small issue with some cups we bought for a family reunion, and to show how dedicated they are to customer service, we were sent cases of different items as "A sample of our fine product line". Now I won't use anyone else's disposable items. They are washable, and will hold up through pretty much everything but the microwave. We had to try! :D They are great to keep on hand for parties.

I'm sorry if this offends you, but don't use plastic plates for your wedding. If you are having your wedding at a reception site with an on-site caterer, then they should provide china, glassware and flatware in your price. Same thing if you hire an outside caterer. Look into that, you may actually save money and have something a little more classy.

Plastic plates at weddings should be a sign of the Apocolypes. Believe me, if you go plastic, you'll regret it a million times over. Having a wedding bought from Oriental Trading is alot worse than just eloping.

If your wedding budget is that low, consider postponing your date. You only get one Big Day, don't ruin it.

There is nothing at all tacky about doing this...the best place to go is to SAMS club...if you don't have a membership check at a party supply store...you can also get the clear cutlery as well...and it really does look nice. I don't think I've been to a wedding, bridal shower, or baby shower that had anything different...I recommend that you get the 2 sizes...the small for wedding cake...and then the large for everything else...good luck and have fun!!!

I dont know what you have in your area, but Party City has plates like that. I suppose any party store and some stores that sell wedding materails like AC Moore or Michael's.Sam's Club also sells them in my area.Good Luck.

Sam's Club has them but you can rent real glass plates for about the same price & the rental company washes them.
Real glass is more dignified & proper. Choose what you want though, not what others say.
