what are the chances that a regular pc user in their own home can get into trouble for using these free download services? not for mass duplication, just a few songs to listen to here and there.

chances are low...they are looking to get the major unloaders over the small time downloaders. but if you do get caught it can be up to $150,000 per song. though that much has yet to be paid by anyone. Most cases settle for much less.

Very low, but if you're using limewire you may get viruses. (rarely from music, but from somethings).
