I just found and tried to remove a tick from my cat, but I only got the body and most of the ticks legs. Can the tick get off my cat and get on me or my other two cats? Getting Advantix tomorrow, but worried about tonight. Also, should I be worried about the ticks being in my house now?

Ticks are generally picked up outside and carried inside when they have "bitten" into their host. Is your cat allowed outdoors?
If there were more in your house you or your other cats would have found them by now.
If you got the ticks body, it is dead. No it cannot get on to you or the other cats.
But...the head is still inside your cat and could cause an infection. You need to take your cat to the vet to have the head removed asap.

I know for a fact that if you did not get the head the tick will grow a body. I have seen this happen. The tick at this moment can,t crawl off (after all you did get the legs you said) but soon it will be able to crawl off again(maybe in a couple of days). I would suggest you call a vet and ask how to remove the head. Some ticks carry a disease so leaving the head in is not an option. Good luck!

The tick won't crawl off and get on something else, it's pretty much dead. And I seriously doubt it can grow a new body.

Next time you see your vet ask them to show you how to "roll" a tick out. I haven't lost a tick head in 15 years, and my animals pick them up regularly during tick season (yes they are all vaccinated against lyme disease, yes I use tick control).

if you got most of the tick, i think you're safe. i doubt there are other ticks in the house. but if you are still worried, you can get some carpet sprinkle, and furniture spray from wal-mart that is used for ticks and fleas. as for the rest of the tick still being on your cat, try applying some vaseline to the site of the tick. it will make the skin moist, and help draw it out. good luck!
